Reviews
highly recommend VASARA Kimono Hire. the staff are fantastic and excellent location - everything was so wonderful.
Subarashii! So happy we booked for our first experience. I asked locals for rental recommendations and a Kyoto resident recommended VISARA so you know they're true professionals. The ladies were experienced, friendly, cute and patient even with a little language barrier, but no problems. It makes you appreciate the culture and skill. Would happily recommend and use them again if ever back in Kyoto! There's signs giving instructions in English, and to remind you no videos/photos inside the shop. One lady was fluent in English and we had a fun conversation. Within walking distance of Shosei-en Garden which is perfect for photos without big crowds (go before 1pm). We walked to and from wearing traditional sandals with no issues. Directions: Beware Google Maps! It may tell you to go around the back of the building: NO! There's no entrance! Round the corner from the back street and you'll see shop entrances and the building entrance, there's signage it's on the 6th Floor.
No frills unless you pay more, but still an amazing experience even as Quick & Simple Kimono (and Hairstyle). It takes time to choose your kimono but the ladies are very cute, patient and helpful! Even though most weren't fluent in English we were able to easily communicate. Very professional. There's no doubt these ladies know their stuff! So happy we booked with them for our first experience. A Kyoto resident recommended them so you know they're true professionals. It makes you appreciate the culture and the art of putting on layered clothing. There's signs giving instructions in English, and to tell you no videos/photos inside the shop. Also keep your cell phone in your obi (belt) not tucked into your robe (no chest/bra storage, ladies!) if you don't get a bag with your rental.
Must do if you’re in Kyoto!! Wonderful experience, the staff was so kind, friendly and helpful. It has a wide selection of kimonos and accessories. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. experience: Great
we went pretty late at 3pm, 30mins earlier than our reservation but we received service immediately. since there was only one girl working she had to serve four of us at the same time but she was really fast, nice and productive! they had a great selection of clothes, accessories and hairstyles and we added lots of things which is why we had to pay a little extra (it was so worth it tho!!). we also payed an extra fee to keep the outfits until the next day since it was already pretty late when we finished getting ready but it was really really worth it!! would recommend this place always!
wonderful service! we were here last year and we came back again this year :) staff was very friendly and accomodating!
The staff and service was amazing and everyone was so kind. I was with my father, mother, and brother. Only my mother and I wore the yukatas. They helped us to choose our colours and matching belts. I had a bit of a hard time walking in the wooden sandals, so we came back for our shoes. But overall, I loved the experience. Thank you so much!
The kimono styles are beautiful, and the staff is very friendly and enthusiastic. It was a great experience, highly recommended.
The premium package and one-star outfits are relatively average and generally require extra payment. This includes basic headwear, and the selection of styles is limited.
shop near the station, easily reachable by metro. wide selection of sets and accessories. very friendly staff. really efficient organization. unfortunately they speak little English, so at the beginning it is complicated to understand what is included in the price and what are the extra proposals (e.g. more elaborate hairstyles) or of higher quality (for example some more valuable kimonos). convenient cloakroom service (not for valuable things: they are simple closed and numbered bags). to carry around your objects a bag coordinated with the kimono is included.
