Reviews
We recently had a very good afternoon tea experience at Jimmy's Kitchen, a historic HK institution with nearly a century of heritage. They seated us at a table perfectly positioned by the windows, offering a delightful view of the bustling streets of Central. The location provided an ideal vantage point to observe the vibrant energy of HK while enjoying a leisurely afternoon tea. The meal itself featured an English-style selection with impressive variety. The menu included three different types of scones, serveral savoury items, and an assortment of sweet pastries and desserts. The presentation of all items was good. The food was of pretty high quality too. The staff demonstrated exceptional attentiveness and professionalism. They were friendly and caring about our experience. What impressed us most was their anticipatory service - they seemed to sense our needs before we even had to ask.
The entire set paired wonderfully with the sparkling tea's flavor 😋. The overall texture had distinct layers and perfectly complemented the drink's taste. The tomato soup also deserves praise; it was made with quality ingredients, rich in flavor, and not too heavy. However, the cutlery showed some signs of wear, which slightly detracted from the experience 🤏🏻.
Enjoying English afternoon tea at a century-old establishment in Central, the ambiance was elegant and comfortable, and the food was exquisite and delicious. However, it would have been even more delightful if the portions were a bit more generous; for example, only one glass of sparkling tea left us wanting more.
The restaurant service was excellent, and I really enjoyed the sparkling tea; it paired perfectly with the afternoon tea. My friend and I were both very satisfied.
The environment is comfortable, and the service is professional and friendly.
Upon entering the restaurant and providing my reservation name and phone number, the hostess seemed completely unaware that her colleague had called me earlier to change the date. I had chosen a weekday, but apparently, they only offer this brunch on Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays. However, the information on Klook stated that this meal was available daily. She then asked for my Klook barcode. I explained that since the date had been changed, the barcode was no longer valid. I reiterated that her colleague had called me to reschedule, and only then did she seem to realize the situation. Why wasn't this information updated in the system earlier? I saw her looking at the computer the whole time! Next, when I asked the Indian waitress who was serving us about the bill amount (because the restaurant had told Klook they would charge a service fee), she responded with a dismissive tone, saying, “thousand of something.” Is this the renowned service attitude of a famous British restaurant in Hong Kong? Mr. Lau was right: “This kind of service attitude is unacceptable nowadays!” In the end, they said no charge was needed, but the administration was incredibly chaotic. The four appetizers were very small portions. At $488 per person, it seems the cost is entirely for the main course, and it doesn't even include a cup of coffee or tea. They really are maximizing their profits.
The food was average, but the staff was friendly.
My expectations were a bit too high; I'm just average.
