Exhibition Introduction
Most of humanity's earliest civilizations developed around rivers.
Rivers provided water and living conditions, but also brought floods and changes, leading humans to gradually form cities, systems, and beliefs within the natural environment, thereby developing the earliest social structures and worldviews.
The "Ancient Civilizations Exhibition" in Kaohsiung continues the success of its first stop in Taipei, taking rivers as its starting point to re-examine the development of the four major civilizations. Through immersive spatial design and light-and-shadow narration, history is transformed into an accessible and perceptible civilizational experience.
This is a journey of civilization that unfolds from water.
Amidst the changing river channels and environmental pressures of Mesopotamia, humans established laws, writing, and urban systems, giving society an operable structure.
In the stable rhythm of the Nile, life extended beyond death, forming a belief system in eternity.
In the Indus Valley, rivers became symbols of cycles and thought, guiding people to explore the essence of life inward.
In the Mediterranean world, the ocean fostered exchange and collision, and humans established methods of understanding the world through observation and deliberation.
Four civilizations developed along different waterways, responding to the same question: How do humans exist in the world?
This exhibition features 33 selected exhibits as civilizational anchor points, combining replicated craftsmanship, large-scale scenes, and light-and-sound design. Through the systematic framework of civilization, it expands upon more than 50 knowledge points, recreating the key nodes of civilizational development.
Visitors will traverse different civilizational spaces, from the flow of water and the genesis of cities to the transformation of beliefs and ideas, re-understanding the formation of human civilization through an immersive experience.

Exhibition Highlights: 3D Projection Mapping Map / Giant Light-and-Shadow Flip Book / River Chronology Step into the exhibition and begin to understand civilization from rivers.
The 3D map and light-and-shadow chronology intertwine to trace the trajectory of rivers, presenting humanity's journey of living by water. The Two Rivers, the Nile, the Mediterranean, and the Ganges River basins collectively form the foundation of early civilizations.
The giant book of history unfolds page by page, leading visitors into the origin of civilization.
🏹 Mesopotamian Civilization | The Beginning of Order
Exhibition Highlights: Replicated Representative Artifacts, Immersive Lion Hunt Projection Mesopotamia is located in the Two Rivers region, where the changing river waters brought uncertainty to life.
In this environment, humans developed urban systems, laws, and writing systems, gradually forming rules and structures for social operation.
The exhibition combines dynamic projections with exhibits to present the process by which early civilizations established order under environmental pressure.
🏺 Egyptian Civilization | The Pursuit of Eternity
Exhibition Highlights: 3D Pyramid Projection, Giant Sphinx, Tomb Scenery The Nile River provided stable living conditions, allowing Egyptian civilization to develop over a long period.
People began to contemplate the continuation of life and the world after death, establishing an understanding of "eternity" through religious beliefs and ritual systems. The exhibition space combines tomb scenery with projected images to present ancient Egypt's imagination of life and rebirth.
🏛️ Mediterranean Civilization | Myth and Reason
Exhibition Highlights: Zeus Projection Mapping Statue, Architectural Scenery Exchange in the Mediterranean region promoted the development of thought and culture, with philosophy, politics, and art gradually forming systems. Humans established knowledge frameworks through observation and discussion, and the way of understanding the world began to change.
The exhibition combines mythical imagery and architectural scenes with exhibits to present the process of moving from myth to rational thought.
🕉️ Indian Civilization | Life and Philosophy
Exhibition Highlights: Introduction to Ancient Indian Spices, Mandala Immersive Projection Indian civilization developed around the Ganges River basin, forming a cultural system that emphasizes spirituality and philosophy.
The cycle of life and inner exploration became important philosophical main themes.
The exhibition presents the Indian civilization’s way of understanding life and existence through images, symbols, and immersive projections.

Stepping into the immersive ancient civilization experience exhibition at Huashan 1914 Creative Park is like accidentally stepping into a crack sealed by time. Light and shadow flow on the walls, and a low voice seems to come from the ground, making it hard to tell whether it's the echo of history or your own heartbeat. The symbols, rituals, and mysterious scenes of those civilizations are sometimes near, sometimes far, never explicitly stated, yet constantly prompting the question: Have they truly disappeared, or are they watching us in another way? When I reached the exit, I still felt that something remained behind, with no answers, only a lingering feeling of being gently touched by ancient memories.
The exhibition area isn't very large, but for us, with two small children, it was enough to explore, even though the adults wanted to look at the exhibits more closely! For the kids, besides the really big display items, the light projections were quite interesting and a new stimulus, allowing them to learn about this civilization. Personally, I also really enjoyed the projection changes, as it was a great opportunity to understand what people did in that era.
Purchase tickets in advance and scan to enter. Weekday visits are less crowded, allowing you to enjoy the exhibits at your leisure. You can also visit the Pier-2 Art Center and the Pop Music Center nearby for afternoon tea and to escape the sun.
Rediscover four different ancient civilizations. While there's more information available on Egyptian culture, the others are smaller in scope, but you can still gain a lot of knowledge.
The exhibition area isn't large, and it's mostly a model replica combined with projections. It's better suited for young children who will find it fun. If you're going with the intention of exploring ancient civilizations, it might be a bit lacking.
It's very convenient to buy tickets with Klook. The exhibition includes Assyrian, Egyptian, Greek, and ancient Indian civilizations. You can walk through each exhibition area in about ten minutes.
When I was taking my mom to Huashan, we happened to see this exhibit, so I told her we hadn't seen anything like it before. We went in to take a look, and after seeing it, we thought it was pretty good. It's a nice way to experience and learn about ancient civilizations.
It's a presentation about the various architectural styles of the four ancient civilizations, their origins, and key historical figures. There are basically 3D maps and some sculptures to see, and it takes about an hour to view everything.
If you visit on a weekday afternoon, there won't be many people, so you can have an immersive experience. You can even stamp a souvenir in the last section! The merchandise is also very cute!
Overall, I felt the decorations were quite thoughtful! Since it wasn't a holiday, there weren't many people, making it very comfortable to browse. After visiting, I still think it's worth seeing.
