Hiking Tour at Zhuilu Old Road, Taroko National Park

Ah Min is an amazing guide, friendly and responsible. Takes very very good photos and is patient with those who are hiking a bit slower. I felt very safe and enjoyed the hike at every moment. Highly recommended. Will do this again if I’m ever back in Taiwan

The one-way trip is about 3.1 kilometers and climbs about 550 meters. The first 2.5 kilometers are all uphill and almost all are stairs. After 2.5 kilometers, there is the relatively gentle Zhuilu Cliff. There are ropes next to the cliff to pull up. In fact, the cliff is not as scary as it looks in the photo. The resting space is quite large and shaded by trees. You can take a good rest before returning.

The scenery is amazing and worth the trip. Even if it’s not sunny, the fog is very atmospheric. It is relatively safe to have a team guide for the first time. There are two guides leading the team, which is very reassuring. The guide was very kind and did not rush me when I was not strong enough in the early part. He kept chatting to divert his attention. Finally, he managed to see the beautiful scenery at the end. It was very worth it. However, the descent was a bit rushed.

I took the train to Hualien, stayed one night and was connected to a hotel for hiking the next day. The tour guide was very enthusiastic and allowed me to use trekking poles. I also ate rice balls and biscuits to replenish calories. I took a rest when my feet were sore. I took a lot of beautiful photos. It was really Yes, after climbing we took us to the train station, rented a motorcycle to eat Yuli Stinky Tofu, watched the sea in Pacific Park, returned to the train station to eat a railway bento, then got on the train and headed home.

It was a perfect day though it was drizzling but the tour was so smooth specially we got the awesome tour guides like eric and his friends who brought us the the to the trail... anyway we didn’t make it to the top coz of knee problem so we decided to go back and leave our other hikers go on the adventure. But the good thing was eric won’t let us just like that so he brought us to the other trail which is not stepped elevated but still beautiful place in taroko.. still want to go back..

Tour guide was nice although they did not speak English, but there were other tour members that helped us with translation!
