Hualien Whale Watching: Turumoan Whale Watching Tour

Very fun sightseeing activity, though sightings are more likely to be dolphins than whales. Transfers are highly recommended (if not mandatory) unless you’re driving, as the location isn’t very accessible. There’s a 15 to 30 minute educational briefing on commonly seen whale and dolphin species at their visitor area before being driven to the dock. The boat is clean and well-maintained. I strongly recommend queuing early once you reach the dock to access the boat’s second floor, which offers clearer views and is less crowded (limited to 10 people). Time spent at sea depends on conditions and may be around 1 hour or less, which is understandable. Highly recommended!

An unexpected Pacific whale watching trip! A special car will pick you up at the hotel at the corresponding time in the morning, and then you will go to the ticket office for a short lecture, and then go to the pier to board the ship. The scenery is really good, and the tour guide on the boat will introduce some knowledge about the geographical location, ocean currents, and marine life species. Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Hualien coast, see leaping flying fish, and finally see a group of spinner dolphins playing at noon. The first time I got close to wild dolphins! The tour guide introduced the habits and behaviors of dolphins in detail, took us to observe, and we recorded many moments with our mobile phones and cameras! The safety measures are in place, and the tour guide will remind you to pay attention to your belongings and hold on tightly if you take pictures! In general, I am very satisfied, and I will have another trip to the Pacific next time I have the opportunity!

the local volunteer did a great job to introduce the diverse knowledge of the whale species and what to expect during the ride. the seas were fairly rough with swells up to 2 m and many guests were throwing up even before the dolphins were spotted. suggest not to have a full breakfast or meal before the tour. the boat ride saw 2 sightings of dolphin families at close range. we are in awe of this experience and we can see the commitment and care that these volunteers demonstrate towards these beautiful creatures. we are equally grateful for this opportunity.

glad that the driver recommended us some very effective motion sickness pills because the sea was quite rough that day. The view was beautiful and we got to see some dolphins. Sadly, we didnt manage to see any whales! The guide was very enthusiastic and very informative too. Her instructions were very clear.

Even though it's past season, we managed to see spinner dolphins. It was an amazing experience! Guide was very nice and even though the tour was technically in chinese, she translated a lot of parts to English so we could understand! Highly recommend!

The narrator introduces us to the species identification, behavior and ecological characteristics of various dolphins with profound knowledge and experience. The appearance of spinner dolphins met my expectations! It left a deep impression! These stunning dolphins roll and leap freely across the water with incredible speed, displaying unparalleled agility and grace. Whenever they shuttled between the whale watching boats, the crowd on the whole boat would admire and engrave this moment in their minds forever. The appearance of spinner dolphins not only makes whale watching activities more exciting and exciting, but also leaves us with an unforgettable ecological feast.

A great experience. The Kuroshio guide was very professional and explained very well. The captain was also very helpful and found the whales in the waves. Highly recommended.

Driver came to pick us up at the hotel. He was on time. It was a 10 seater minibus, very comfortable. Though we didnt manage to see whale during the tour, thankfully managed to see the dolphins.

The confirmation was immediate and I received a message in WhatsApp from the team. though the trip was in Chinese, they managed their best to translate in English for us. The language was not an issue at all. our guide ( I remember her name as okra , I may be wrong) was very patient and calm. since we could watch only 2 dolphins in one spot, they took us to another spot to watch more. First time watching spinner dolphins and we were excited. the agenda was on time 👍. the view was also amazing 🤩.

We booked a pickup service, and the driver arrived early at the hotel to pick us up. Upon arrival, he guided us to collect our boat tickets and then to a small classroom for a briefing. After the briefing, we set off. On the boat, the guide continuously shared information and taught us methods to alleviate seasickness. Seeing the dolphins was truly breathtaking; we marveled at the wonders of nature. The dolphins swimming around the boat were incredibly impressive. The entire experience, from boarding to disembarking, lasted about 1.5 hours and was absolutely worthwhile.
