What to expect
🌸 Shirakawa-go Gassho Village | A World Heritage Site Hidden Deep in the Mountains Located in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, it is famous worldwide for its unique gassho-zukuri wooden houses, making it a true World Cultural Heritage site. In autumn, the mountains are dyed into a splendid oil painting, with red maples, ginkgo trees, and ancient wooden houses complementing each other, creating a gentle and healing scene. In winter, the roofs are covered with white snow, and warm yellow lights dot the landscape, instantly transforming it into a fairy tale secret realm from a Miyazaki film, healing all fatigue. 🏮 Hida Takayama Sanmachi Old Town | A Secluded and Tranquil “Little Kyoto” If you want to avoid the crowds in Kyoto, come to Hida Takayama in Gifu Prefecture! It boasts the reputation of “Little Kyoto,” and the Sanmachi Old Town perfectly preserves the rustic charm of a castle town from the Edo period. Strolling through it, time seems to slow down. The old town is connected by three main streets. Kamisan-no-machi is lively and elegant, while going deeper reveals a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, with less hustle and bustle and more poetic charm of daily life. As an important traditional architectural preservation area in Japan, every corner holds Japanese ancient charm, making people linger and forget to return.

We had a marvelous time. Our tour guide, Sirius, shared a deep local knowledge of history, culture and gidden gems in all the places we went to. Although the weather was warm, still we enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.
Family of 4 with an infant and 10yo kid. Paid for 3 and informed thru email that we have an infant with us. We had a lot of fun with this activity. Our tour guide Zhang is very friendly and accommodating. The meet up location was easy to locate since it's near metro. Zhang speaks English so communication is easy. She is very knowledgeable about the area. The time alloted for each location is enough (we stroll on our own and go to each meet up point after with the given time)
This was a convenient and easy way to get to Takayama and Shirakawa-go without having to worry about transferring from one mode of transportation to another. Although there was limited time given in each place, we were able to explore it still. The bus ride was convenient, and the meeting place was easy to locate. We left and arrived right on time. The tour guide was nice and accommodating, and it was an overall pleasant experience.
wonderful experience. the bus arrived on time and the guide was very nice as well. it was a smooth drive to shirakawago and takayama. the alloted time to each place were just enough for us to roam around the area. i will surely recommend this tour especially to first timer and doesn't have much time to do diy.
Our Takayama–Shirakawago tour was truly a 5/5 experience. The destinations were beautiful and felt like stepping into a real-life postcard, especially the traditional houses and peaceful mountain scenery. I did feel that the time at each stop was a bit short, and I wished we could stay longer to explore more, but I also understand that continuing the trip late at night would be difficult and unsafe for the driver, so the schedule made sense. The guides were patient, kind, and very helpful. They clearly explained what to see, what to expect, and gave easy directions, which made everything smooth and stress-free. Even with a tight itinerary, the overall vibe was relaxed and friendly. The bus was neat, comfortable, and well-organized, which made the long ride enjoyable. Overall, it was a memorable, well-managed tour that I would happily recommend to others.
Very good ride, it is very worthwhile. unfortunately we had an accident on the track and we were a little late, but even so we could enjoy it a lot (if organizing you can do everything that the cities have to offer in your free time)
This winter day trip to Takayama and Shirakawa-go was truly unforgettable and one of the highlights of my time in Japan. Visiting Shirakawa-go while it was covered in snow felt like stepping into a fairytale-the gassho-zukuri houses looked absolutely stunning in the winter scenery. Takayama was just as charming, with its traditional streets, historic atmosphere, and cozy winter vibes. The entire trip was very well organized, transportation was comfortable and warm, and everything ran smoothly, making the day completely stress-free. We had enough time at both locations to explore, take photos, and enjoy the atmosphere without feeling rushed. Our guide, Lee, was very friendly and well knowledgeable, sharing interesting history and cultural insights that really added to the experience. If you're visiting Japan in winter and want to see beautiful traditional towns, I can't recommend this day enough. Absolutely worth it!
We joined the Shirakawago & Takayama day tour and it was one of the best tours we’ve done. Even though the weather wasn’t perfect, we still had so much fun. The Hida beef lunch was absolutely worth it, and our guide Yuki and the bus driver took great care of everyone. Yuki gave excellent recommendations and was very professional throughout the trip.
it was a dream destination. the tour was excellent and guide was very helpful. i love the takayama stop over. completely different gastronomic experience.
The guide was awesome, time management was well executed. He's very friendly and helpful. Arrived back in Nagoya as per schedule. It was a perfect trip. Thank you!!
