Review for: Motonosumi Shrine Red Torii & Mojiko/Karato Market & Sarakurayama Cable Car Day Trip

This activity was definitely worth it! Since we were traveling independently and wanted to visit Motonosumi Shrine, joining this one-day tour made things much more convenient. We were very lucky to have Jimmy as our guide on this trip. His initial self-introduction on the bus immediately livened up the atmosphere and had everyone laughing heartily. Since there were also foreigners on the tour, he spoke both Mandarin and English, which was excellent and easy to understand. I'd also like to commend the driver's excellent skills; although the journey was a bit long, we rested very comfortably. The only slight disappointment on this trip was that when we reached the mountain, the fog was too thick, so we couldn't really see the scenery. I look forward to coming back next time to see the beautiful views!

Incredible tour led by Kevin! Monotosumi Shrine Red Torii has a breathtaking view. We had fresh seafood for lunch in Karato market/Mojiko and ended the journey in Mt. Sarakura with stunning panoramic vista. Thank you JRT!

There are three main attractions. First, we visited Karato Market, located on the southernmost tip of Honshu, across from Mojiko in Kitakyushu. We enjoyed a variety of fresh and delicious seafood, such as fugu sashimi, freshly made sushi, and seafood donburi. Next, we went to Motonosumi Shrine, a coastal shrine near Yamaguchi in the Chugoku region of Honshu. The spectacular thousand red torii gates, combined with the vast, endless sea view and the strong sea breeze, were breathtaking. Finally, we experienced the night view from Mount Sarakura, renowned as one of Japan's top three night views. We arrived near dusk and, along the way, enjoyed beautiful and magnificent panoramic views of Kitakyushu city and the Kanmon Strait. It was truly amazing! Our tour guide, Jimmy, was attentive and thoughtful throughout the trip, which we greatly appreciated. He was very dedicated and provided excellent service. Everyone should come and visit soon!

It was a great trip to see a lot in a short amount of time! Personally, I prefer to stay a bit longer, but it's absolutely clear and expected beforehand that this isn't possible with such long distances. The tour guide was super nice and shared interesting information about each stop. The schedule was always kept, and the bus driver was also very kind. The attractions themselves were also super beautiful and delicious (food market).

Thanks to Ada, our guide, her kindness and consideration made what I thought would be a difficult trip today, so happy and enjoyable. I was worried about the sudden rain and cold, but I had much more fun than I thought. Thank you so much for always being smiling and taking good care of us so that we were not uncomfortable. And thank you to the driver who helped with the driving for dropping us off safely until the end.

Review for: Motonosumi Shrine Red Torii & Mojiko/Karato Market & Sarakurayama Cable Car Day Trip

The round trip to Motonosumi Shrine took nearly three hours, but the local scenery was not as impressive as I had imagined (over a hundred torii gates plus one unique rock formation; CNN's 2015 evaluation is now more than 10 years outdated), and we couldn't even visit the shrine itself. Therefore, I suggest that Klook, if possible, arrange other attractions in Northern Kyushu as alternatives, which would offer better value for money. Special thanks to our guide, Daisy, who was incredibly warm and responsible. She was concerned we wouldn't have enough time to explore Mount Sarakura properly and might miss the last cable car down. She even arranged a separate cable car for our group to descend and, worried about us getting cold, advised us to wait indoors. She truly is a thoughtful guide, and I give her a five-star rating. Excellent!

I joined this Kitakyushu one-day tour on 22 May 2026 and had a wonderful experience. Ada was very organised and helpful throughout the trip. She provided clear guidance on the itinerary, things to do, and important points to take note of before arriving at each destination. Overall, it was a great experience despite the cloudy weather. Highly recommended!!!

This trip was incredibly enjoyable! I was so surprised to find out our tour guide, Selina, was from my hometown – what a wonderful coincidence! She was enthusiastic and friendly throughout the entire trip, providing detailed and down-to-earth explanations, which made our interactions very comfortable. The itinerary was well-planned and thoughtful, and she took excellent care of us, answering all our questions and handling everything responsibly and reliably. The whole journey felt exceptionally warm and pleasant, and the experience was perfect. I highly recommend it!

Our tour guide, Xiao Wang, was excellent, and his photography skills were top-notch! The driver's skills were also superb! Today's itinerary was rich and relaxing. Karato Market was incredibly delicious 😋—so affordable and fresh, it's a must-visit! At Motonosumi Shrine ⛩️, a hidden gem in the mountains, the gods must be less busy, so our wishes are sure to come true 🤣. The million-dollar night view is perfect for couples, but unfortunately, it wasn't dark enough, and we didn't have enough time. Still, enjoying a cup of coffee together was very satisfying.
