Eligibility
- Children aged 0-5 can either purchase adult cards or buy child ICOCA IC Cards, available at any JR West ticket counter
Additional information
- The card has a pre-loaded stored value. You can top-up at any metro or bus stations and/or partner convenience stores
- You can use this card to make cashless payments in select convenience stores, food courts, vending machines, and more
- Staff is available for guests requiring disability assistance
- The ICOCA IC Card cannot be used for rides/purchases at locations outside the coverage area
- Maximum Stored Amount: JPY20,000. The card can be loaded and used as many times as desired
- Balance can be checked by using the ticket vending machines at the station
- The card expires if unused for 10 years. Expired cards can be replaced upon request and the remaining value will be transferred to the new card
- Important: The ICOCA IC Card cannot be used for rides or purchases at locations outside the coverage area
- Use your ICOCA IC Card when shopping by tapping the card on the card reader to complete your purchase. This card is valid for purchases on trains, vending machines, rent coin lockers, convenience stores, and restaurants. Visit the official website for more details
- Use your ICOCA IC Card when riding trains by tapping the card on the gate's ticket reader. The fare will be automatically computed and deducted from your card. If the balance is insufficient, you will be required to add more money to your ICOCA IC Card
- To top-up your ICOCA IC Card visit any Automatic Ticket Vending Machine and Fare Adjustment Machine with an ICOCA logo. Only cash (JPY) can be used to top up the card. Credit/Debit cards cannot be used
- Get discounts on the Kansai Airport Express "Haruka" upon presenting the ICOCA IC card during purchase!
- If you need to return the card, please go to the service counter in JR West Japan stations. Travelers may receive a deposit of JP¥500 when returning the card, but a handling fee of JP¥220 will be charged.

kansai thru pass covers wide areas in Osaka and Kyoto. redeemed ours at Sugi Drugstore in Namba. for first time use, ask the rail attendant if it can be used in the train you are about to ride on. same with buses. easy
it is very useful and easy to redeem. i was confused at first at train station from kansai on how and where to use it, but yes, it’s usable everywhere! it includes the kansai thru pass when i purchased it. great even for a solo traveler like me!
There are two places to exchange IC CARD and KTP. KTP is at KIX tourist information, and IC card is diagonally opposite. Klook has instructions. Although there are many people queuing up, the tourist center is efficient. The free IC card of 1,500 yen can be taken to the city. Okay, KTP gives you discount coupons and you have to select the date of use when registering. You can get more discounts, but I don’t have time to look at them. I just asked about each stop. I don’t know if it is possible without registering. The general itinerary is the same as Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe. The horse hot spring is far away from Kobe, and then it is even further to go to the outlet. Going to the outlet from Arima requires IC CARD at your own expense. The outlet is worth going to, and it is good for Arima, but the deer in Nara Deer Park eat fruits but not cakes, and there are no deer. Plum blossom point, but shopping is cheaper.
Easy to use and top up, especially using iphone. At the end of the day I transfer it to my Apple travel wallet. And just realise that if u are using iphone u can just find this card in travel wallet. If non iphone, then just buy la this card, no hassle
Highly recommended, except for the fact that we had to wait 50 minutes for collection because the booth was manned by only one person and he headed out for lunch from 1pm to 2pm (see 2nd photo; not stated in collection voucher). Experienced this so you don’t have to :’)
The Kansai Amazing Pass is really convenient and saves transportation costs. I rely on it to take the subway in Kyoto to Nara and Uji. It can also take the buses between Nara and Uji for free. Plus, it can take the Nankai Electric Railway, so I never have to worry about it. When arriving at the airport, you can go directly to Kansai Airport by Nankai Electric Railway without buying another transportation ticket. The Kansai 3-day travel pass can be used without consecutive rides, so I use the ICOCA card for other short distances and days when I don’t need to keep transferring. And ICOCA, like the EasyCard, can be used when buying things at convenience stores, so it’s very convenient.
I love it! Super easy to redeem. Basically Icoca is a prepaid smart card where you can use it anywhere, not only for travelling. Thank you klooks for making our travel easy. Good Purchase♥️
