An awesome and skilled guide! Despite cloudy skies on the first night, our guide's persistence paid off and we were rewarded with a fantastic viewing (and amazing photos) on the second night. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. The tour was well-organized, starting with hot drinks at base camp before heading out to several spots. We loved that he took and shared such great photos with us via a download link. Highly recommend!
Hysan is very professional and nice. I didn’t do much research before coming to Yellowknife and ended up choosing the off-season. Hysan used his own personal time to take us out to chase the aurora at 7pm when it became visible — just to make sure everyone had the chance to see it. It was incredible thoughtful of him, and the whole tour arrangement was perfect!
Today's weather was quite cloudy, but our female tour guide and driver worked very hard, observing the clouds to find a suitable spot for aurora viewing. In the last hour before we had to leave, we finally saw the aurora, which was incredibly lucky. I'm very grateful to her for driving us around to find the best viewing spots and for helping us take beautiful photos. 🥰
Today, we were incredibly lucky to witness a spectacular aurora borealis display! 🥰 We're also very grateful to Tim, our guide and driver, for helping us find the best viewing spots and for taking beautiful photos for us. ❤️ They are fluent in both Chinese and English! 👍
We were so lucky to see the Northern Lights! Our guide and driver, Tim, was wonderful and very enthusiastic. He even took turns taking photos for all of us. After the activity, he provided hot cocoa to help us warm up. 🥰
Although it was really cold, but it’s worth couse the auora light was so beautiful. The instructor was nice as she keep searching the auora light and taking wonderful photo for us. Hightly recommend this to others!
Due to the cloudy weather, there was a high possibility that the aurora would not be visible even if we stayed at the campsite. So, we were contacted in advance (about 4 hours prior) and offered a bus tour instead. As a result, we were able to see the aurora successfully. Hot cocoa was served in the bus, and overall it was a very good experience.
The weather was so great that I could see the aurora right away. The guide took us to see a newly formed aurora again through the app, and it was a memorable trip.
When I asked about renting winter gear the day before the tour, they responded immediately and delivered everything to our hotel that evening. Super impressed! They picked us up right at our hotel, and during the viewing, our guide took tons of photos of us with the aurora and shared them via AirDrop on the spot. The cabin was warm and cozy with a wood-burning stove — a lifesaver in the -30°C cold outside! Just as we got in the car to head back, the biggest aurora of the night appeared! Our guide immediately got everyone out and took more photos. That moment was unforgettable. My husband and I were the only Japanese guests, while the others were Chinese-speaking, but the guide handled everything smoothly in both Chinese and English. My only struggle was that my fingers got too cold to take my own photos — but the guide’s photos more than made up for it! The aurora was breathtakingly beautiful. Highly recommended!
I was worried about the lack of reviews, so I'm writing one even though I'm not very good at it! I think it covers all the basics! Personally, I thought it was great! I was the only Japanese person; everyone else was Chinese. It feels like it's geared towards Chinese tourists. The guide was also Chinese, but it was nice that they also used English. As for the content of the aurora tour, we saw the aurora so well at the first location on the first day that we didn't move from there, so I can't judge the rest. Sorry! I'm just guessing here, but I think they probably move around to different spots if the aurora isn't great. At the end, tours from other companies in the same group all gathered together. They also took photos with an expensive-looking camera! For free! I'm assuming tips aren't included, but it seems like you don't have to pay a tip. I don't know if that's a Chinese cultural thing. But they provided good service, so I happily paid a tip. They just said "Thank you" and accepted it normally. We went to a lake near McMeekan Bay? from Vancouver! It took about 40-50 minutes. The location probably changes depending on the day, so I can't say for sure. I can't say much for sure, can I? Oh, also, if the new moon and peak aurora activity coincide, accommodation-included tours get booked up pretty far in advance (like a month and a half?). So, I booked a hotel on another site and booked the tour here! This is the most important point: they'll probably pick you up anywhere in Yellowknife! I told them where I was staying, and they came to pick me up there! They also dropped me off there at the end, which was great since I wasn't staying downtown! I hope everyone gets to see the aurora! Foooo
