What to expect
After a sampan boat ride in the mangrove, or a short walk on a natural path, you are now welcomed in the spa's reception area with a herbal drink & cold towel, before getting to select your preferred aromatherapy oil. The treatment rooms nestled in the mangrove forest are kept cool with ceiling fans, and singing birds provide a pleasant background sounds. After the treatment, you will get time to enjoy the natural setting surrounding the spa, or chill out on the private white sandy beach located just a short walk away.

Most resorts in Bintan was at the west side and just for a sedentary spa experience, I decided to try this at the Monteiro resort at the east side of Bintan. The trip back and forth took 2h but I'm ok with that. Now, about the spa experience, I choose the body scrub and oil massage for 105min and the masseur was very strong. I kept telling her to lighten but after a while it went back to her normal strength. Same for the scrub. The scrub made my body feel like I'm on fire. Apart from that, the Indonesians are really hospitable- they gave us drinks on the house and I'm really grateful for that as I was parched
