Review for: 【Departing from Fukuoka】Mount Aso, Kusasenri, Kurokawa Onsen, Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine

17 Dec 25 - Absolutely excellent experience with our brilliant guide, Jimmy, who was extremely professional and friendly and informative throughout the entire tour. It rained a bit while we were on top of Mt Aso, but it was still overall an amazing trip thanks to Jimmy, who very clearly and effectively gave us key insights into the trends at certain locations and what to look out for. The pacing of the trip was executed perfectly, with just the right amount of time allotted for each stop such that we can cover an immense range of unique sights and experiences all in one trip. 100/10 for this, excited to be back again to experience this with my family and friends in the future :) (Note; No drone flying opportunities, unfortunately!)

It was a great excursion! It's a quick way to discover several places in one day (knowing that it's complicated by train), but keep in mind that the time spent at each spot is timed! I recommend it.

It was a cost-effective way to see places that are hard to reach without a car in just one day! I was a little worried because it was a group that only provided Chinese guides, but the guide was able to speak basic English and was fluent in Japanese, so there were no communication problems. It was the biggest part of my 2-night, 3-day trip, and I was so happy that the guide, Sun, provided Korean guide documents and gave us great tour information, and took good care of the non-Chinese speaking minority group(?). If there was one thing I was disappointed about, it was the weather. There was so much fog from morning to afternoon... I'm sad that I couldn't see the true value of Kusasenri. I'm planning to come back with other friends to see Kusasenri and Aso Crater next time, and I want to be with guide Sun again then~~ Highly recommended!!!!

Took the tour from Kumamoto. Unfortunately, weather conditions did not permit us to visit the Aso summit. Our guide, Sun, was really great throughout the tour. There was never a dull moment on transit with him around.

Our tour guide Daisy was very enthusiastic and friendly. She did her homework thoroughly and even sent pre-trip notes and maps before the trip. After the trip, she also provided a review and recommended restaurants in Fukuoka (where she has lived for 8 years). Her explanation of Mount Aso & Kusasenri was the clearest I've ever encountered, and she even used maps to help. Because it was a large bus tour with 45 people, we had to pay 1400 yen for the shuttle bus to the crater. She included information on what each building sells and what must-try specialty foods there are. We were able to have a horse meat lunch (not fishy, very chewy, and you can tell the horse exercised), and then stroll through the grassland eating ice cream and drinking milk. There was plenty of time for each activity. It was a pity that Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine was under construction. Further up there is also Ukeidoiwa Cave, which is very spectacular. There was enough time in Kurokawa Onsen to stroll around, take some photos, and quickly soak in the hot spring (800 yen + 300 yen for a towel). It would be perfect if the bus could park a little closer to the hot spring.

Although we couldn't see the crater up close due to the wind direction, the scenery along the road was really beautiful and spectacular. The guide, Wang, was very kind in introducing the surrounding attractions and suitable places for taking pictures, which was really great. I only found out at the end that he was a tour guide from Fukuoka who came to help out temporarily. I hope to see him again when I go to Fukuoka.

It was a great trip. The itinerary was perfectly arranged. The onsen (hot spring) fee wasn't high, the foot bath was free, and the scenery was beautiful, no filter needed. It also saved a lot of time and money on transportation. Returning to Hakata Station at 6:30 pm made it very convenient to eat at Hakata Ichiban-gai.

Our tour guide was absolutely wonderful 👍👍👍. She was incredibly patient and attentive. When she learned I had lost my wallet upon arrival, she even proactively helped me communicate with the police 🥹. She is a truly responsible professional!

Had a very good and organized tour experience. Nicole amis recommended as a tour guide as she explains each itinerary very clear. We just feel that each itinerary is a bit short for us because we have a kid but we think the alloted time is just fair to everyone. Just wished that Kusasenri is a bit greener. Nicole told us that they just burned the grass on that location to grow it healthier but still the view is beautiful. Only comment was the bus driver looks always irritated and doesnt smile but overall the experience was great and recommended.

You can comfortably rent a bus to visit hard-to-reach places in Kumamoto! Although it was a tour conducted in Chinese, the guides were very attentive, and we had a wonderful trip~~
