What to expect
Motonosumi Shrine Worship Time Notice: Starting March 1st, every Saturday, Sunday, and Japanese public holiday, the main shrine hall will be temporarily closed for worship; the red torii gate area along the coastline remains open for normal visits.
This is a one-day itinerary connecting "ocean views + local cuisine + shrines + night views". Starting from Hakata, you can easily check in at popular attractions in Yamaguchi and Kitakyushu. The entire journey features private round-trip transportation with no transfers needed, making your trip more hassle-free.
In the morning, enjoy a drive-by view of the Kanmon Bridge. The bridge spanning the strait paired with passing ships creates a vast and open scenery; afterwards, arrive at Karato Market for free time. This place gathers all kinds of fresh seafood and sushi, allowing you to eat while exploring and choose freely according to your preferences. It is a relaxing and engaging stop of the entire day's trip.
In the afternoon, head to Motonosumi Shrine. The red torii gates lined up along the coast extend all the way to the edge of the cliff, offering a strong visual impact. Both photography and ocean-viewing experiences are great, with ample stay time to walk and look around leisurely.
In the evening, return to Kitakyushu and ascend Mount Sarakura by cable car. From dusk until nightfall, witness the city lights gradually turning on and overlook the entire night view, which is a brilliant finale to the route. Note: Sunset times vary by season. Both the sunset and the night view are equally wonderful, and we look forward to your visit~
The overall pace is comfortable, unhurried, and not tiring. You can taste local specialties and also take photos of representative landscapes. It is suitable for tourists who are visiting this area for the first time and want to efficiently check in at multiple classic attractions in one day. ⚠️ Travel Reminder In case of Japanese public holidays and peak travel seasons, traffic congestion, large crowds, early closing of attractions, or itinerary time adjustments may occur. Please do not book same-day dinners, flights, or Shinkansen tickets, and it is recommended to carry a portable power bank. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Reviews
This tour includes a total of 3 attractions. The distances between them are quite far, making for a long drive and a slightly tiring experience. The seafood at the Karato Market was fresh and reasonably priced, and we really enjoyed the meal. Each piece of sushi cost around 200 to 600 Japanese yen, and seafood rice bowls with mixed seafood or salmon roe were available for 1,000 to 2,000 yen. The indoor dining area on the second floor requires a fee of 300 yen per person. Finally, regarding the night view from Mount Sarakura, the weather was not very good; it was very foggy and we couldn't see anything. Fortunately, the fog cleared up a bit when we took the cable car back down, providing a perfect ending with the night view. There is a panoramic restaurant on the second floor of the mountain, but seating is limited. As soon as the cable car arrives, you need to hurry and place your order; otherwise, once the seats are full, they stop taking orders. The restaurant only has about 12 tables, and due to a shortage of staff, the food is served very slowly, so you need to keep an eye on your return transportation time. Our tour leader, Ms. Yang Meng, was very friendly and shared a lot of useful information.
Jimmy Liu was one of the most funny and entertaining guides we’ve had during our Fukuoka trip, it was a fantastic time with Jimmy and our trip up to Kitakyushu! To provide a better context Kitakyushu is quite up north from Fukuoka and each destination would take 1.5-2.5hrs (which can be challenging for young children who are more restless). The rides were long but the views were amazing. We had enough time to enjoy each place, especially at Mojiko Port where we got to experience wonderful grilled Japanese curry! The rest of the destinations were beautiful and scenic. I do recommend this trip if you are looking to enjoy the natures and wonders of Kitakyushu!
I loved this tour from Klook. It was a great way to discover something new and visit very Instagrammable places. We went to all the places on the itinerary and were always on time. Kevin was our tour guide, and I can honestly say he was the best! He was very friendly, cheerful, kind, and always smiling. I highly recommend both him and this tour. Until next time :)
A huge thank you to our tour guide, Selina! She gave us a detailed introduction to all the day's attractions at the start of the tour. Throughout the trip, she kindly pointed out worthwhile sights and delicious places to eat. She took meticulous and thoughtful care of each member of the group. The schedule was also well-managed, and she even recommended great places to eat, shop, and explore near the station at the end. Thanks to her, we had a very fulfilling and wonderful day! 😃
This itinerary was comfortable. Although each leg of the journey to the next stop was two hours, it was also the most efficient. If you plan to eat cheese curry rice in Mojiko, one hour might not be enough time. The other two stops had sufficient time. Our female tour guide, Jia Chaoqing, was very nice and approachable; we felt comfortable asking her any questions.
The itinerary was well-arranged and the service attitude was excellent. Our tour guide, Mr. Zhang, provided bilingual commentary in both Chinese and English simultaneously, and managed the pace of the trip perfectly. It's a shame that Mount Sara was foggy with poor visibility, but I highly recommend this tour!
Tour guide was so kind and informative throughout the entire day. Spoke in English and chinese! All of the sights were truly amazing! Very solo traveler friendly. Definitely a once in a lifetime kind of trip.
The weather was unstable that day, and it rained continuously from the start of our trip to Moji Port. However, this wasn't the main issue. The problem was that we were in a small bus, and combined with the winding mountain roads, many in our group got sick. I think a larger vehicle would have been better. The rest of the itinerary was great. Our tour leader that day was Ms. Jiang Jing, and she was incredibly friendly and punctual. She reminded us about the trip two days in advance and promptly answered everyone's questions. She's fluent in Chinese, English, and Japanese, so there's no need to worry about not understanding. She was also very thoughtful and concerned about my family member who gets motion sickness. When she wasn't sitting with the main tour guide during some parts of the trip, she still took great care of my family member, allowing us to continue our journey with peace of mind. However, I personally felt the Karato Market part of the itinerary was a bit rushed (and honestly, I wouldn't really recommend going; we only saw a few rare sashimi cuts, and the sushi rice was really not good). The night view from Mount Sarakura depends on luck; we actually got a better view of the night scenery on the way down the mountain. Thank you, Ms. Jiang, for giving us a wonderful day!
The itinerary was very full, and we didn't have to worry about transportation issues even with elderly family members. The seafood at the Tochimoto Market was very fresh, and we had plenty of time to eat. Motonosumi Shrine is quite a long drive away by the coast, but it is well worth a visit. Although it was very foggy the night we went to see the night view at Mount Sarakura, we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of it. Because it was summer, the night view meant the itinerary ran quite late; thank you so much to our tour guide and driver for their hard work.
The shrine by the sea is beautiful. Mount Sara was foggy in the background due to the weather, so visibility was quite low. Our tour guide, Yuxuan, was incredibly kind and nice. The attractions get 2 stars, but the tour guide gets 100 stars!
