What to expect
The castle has been renovated as part of the “Great Reiwa Construction” project 400 years ago! Experience the history of the castle and castle town inside the castle tower of Fukuyama Castle Fukuyama Castle was built in 1622 (Genna 8) as a base for the Saigoku military. The Fukuyama Castle Museum, located inside the five-story castle tower, underwent major renovations in August 2022, in conjunction with the Reiwa Great Construction Project commemorating the 400th anniversary of the castle’s construction.

A collection of 42 Bingo swords from the Kamakura period to the present dayThe autumn special exhibition "Fukuyama Sword Story" is being held at the Fukuyama Castle Museum from October 3rd (Saturday) to November 23rd, 2026 (Monday/holiday).Bizen, Bicchu, and Bingo (formerly Kibi Province) are blessed with high-quality iron sand and have produced many swordsmiths.
