Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach South Coast Tour

On October 3, 2026, our 14-hour South Coast tour was made exceptionally heartwarming by our two guides. We stayed at the Hotel Klettur, and the pickup and drop-off were very convenient. Yesterday, we joined the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach South Coast day tour. It was a 14-hour journey led by guide Sigurjon and driver Augustin. I wanted to write a sincere review to thank them for their dedication throughout the day. About our guide, Sigurjon: He is one of the most dedicated guides I have ever met. At every stop along the way, he provided thorough explanations and genuinely shared the places he knows so well. He talked about his soccer, his music, and entertaining anecdotes about his life with his family and children. He also shared a lot of local culture, such as Iceland's pool culture and the role of agriculture in the country as a whole. He specifically mentioned that one village supplies about 95% of Iceland's meat and is almost entirely made up of farmers, which gave me a much deeper understanding of Iceland. He is also very knowledgeable about music and has a great singing voice. The playlist on the bus was wonderful, making the atmosphere along the way relaxing and joyful. About our driver, Augustin: He drove extremely steadily throughout the entire trip, making a 14-hour long-distance drive feel reassuring. No matter the road conditions, he drove smoothly, allowing us to feel completely at ease in the vehicle. Regarding the tour itself: It rained all day and the weather wasn't great, but we felt completely fulfilled by every part of the itinerary. We saw the ice blocks at Diamond Beach, the floating ice in the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, majestic waterfalls, and even passed through the town of Vík. The rainy weather actually made the waterfalls even more magnificent and gave the entire landscape a stark, striking beauty. The food at the midday stop was also very good; I chose the cod and mashed potato salad, which was deeply satisfying. This trip was made extra warm thanks to Sigurjon and Augustin. It was absolutely a wonderful trip for us. The bus was so comfortable that we did not feel tired though the travelling distance was more than 800km. Geri who was our guide was a wonderful guide. We were able to see the iceberg and other natural heritages of the South Coast. Absolutely amazing!!!!

We suddenly weren't able to rent a car, so I searched for a way to visit the places we had originally planned to see and found this! At first, I was worried about whether the bus would actually come, so we arrived at the meeting point 30 minutes before the scheduled time. The bus arrived a bit late, and they called out names so we could board. It wasn't full and there were plenty of empty seats, so we were able to spread out and relax! I slept through most of the travel time. When we arrived at each destination, we were told what time to be back, and off we went! The stops were generally set to about 30 to 45 minutes. Of course, we felt short on time at a few places, but since we could use the restroom, this was probably the best timing overall. We were told that food purchased at tourist spots could not be brought onto the bus. Well, everyone secretly snuck food in and ate it anyway, haha. Since driving to Diamond Beach requires a very long distance, being able to sleep on the way made me really glad I chose this tour.

Honestly, I was a bit worried about the long travel time at first, but the bus made several stops along the way, which made the trip much more relaxing. The distance was totally worth it, the glacier is absolutely stunning! Definitely book the boat ride in advance; it’s a lot of fun and wet,(unless you get sea sick easy, also bring waterproof clothes and a pair of gloves!!!) and lets you get some amazing close-up shots of the icebergs.. yes icebergs...plural.

Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and South Coast Day Tour with hotel pickup and drop off by BusTravel Iceland was very smooth at 7.30am to 8pm. Itinerary is slightly different from the one published in Klook as we started with the magnificent Seljalandsfoss waterfall, passed by the Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano on the way to Stjórnarfoss waterfall, Diamond beach, Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and ended at Vik village for dinner. There are 2 main rest stops for lunch and dinner. A lot of time was spend travelling inbetween the attractions and there's only 30 mins at each site. Wished we could have more time especially at the Diamond beach & Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon while skipping Stjórnarfoss waterfall. Bus was quite warm and so it was always a relieve to get out of the bus for fresh air and visit the stunning attractions. Would be good if the guide can explain more on the things we passed by on the way as we had to search on Google maps and see where the bus is at and find out what is out there as we drove along. Driver Lucas was great in driving us safely to each spot in such long hours. If you only have time to do 1 tour, I would highly recommend this as driving on your own would be too tiring even though you can spent more time at the different site as you wished.

absolutely stunning… watching glaciers for so close is a once in a lifetime opportunity. also took boat tour later and it was totally worth it… must must visit

Our guide, Simon, managed time very well and we were able to visit two waterfalls, two glaciers (including the glacier lagoon), diamond beach and Vik! This tour is highly recommended for those who don’t have much time in Iceland as the itinerary is very complete. All the sights we’ve visited were beautiful and unforgettable. The best part was seeing the northern lights on our way back to Reykjavik. Although not part of the itinerary, Simon was also very knowledgeable about this and went above and beyond to make the best out of everything for everyone.

I really liked it, the route is long, but we constantly made stops at locations/snacks. All the locations mentioned in the description for the trip were there. The driver was very kind, he didn't bother with historical facts. Excellent impressions of the trip

This was one of the best day tours I’ve ever experienced, made truly exceptional by our fantastic guide, Sari. He was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing informative and fascinating insights throughout the day, while also keeping everything fun and engaging. We learned so much about Iceland and each of the incredible places we visited. Sari was patient, approachable, and had a great sense of humor, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The sights were absolutely breathtaking, and the entire day was perfectly organized. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland!

the car is comfortable , with the jet-lag, we had a great sleep on the car ride so its not tough for us to survive though the 4 hours ride back. the schedule is good overall, we got enough time for each spot but not for lunch & dinner, understood that let to chase the daylight, howver its a bit difficult to finish a meal with order & toilet all within 30minutes. The spot are very great! and the tourist guide is very nice too. They are very ontime and stick to schedule, they also stopped a bit on our way back when they saw there is northern light! its great to have chance to look at this beautiful scene again even if its delay a bit the drop off time. we enjoy the tour!
