Fell in love with Dormy. The ramen at 9:30 and onsen were both great amenities. We enjoyed the breakfast as well which was a great selection of Japanese as well as American selections. Overall great stay. The staff could not speak English but was very helpful and Google Translate helped when needed.

Being a first time male visitor to Japan, I never experienced an Onsen. The hotel featured one which was easy to navigate and use. You also got free ice cream for afterwards. The hotel was nicely located so that the bus, subway, and train was close by. It’s an easy walk from the hotel to catch a Shinkansen. Breakfast was very good with a nice selection. Highly recommend.

Tall travelers be sure to ask for second blanket and pillow. Showers are very tight also. I would stay here again. Located basically across thr street from Kyoto station. Makes it perfect getting around via railway.

Air con is controlled by hotel so just call down to have it turned on to the r temp needed. English speaking staff makes the stay comfortable and they were kind in helping in checking in and out of the hotel with ease. Onsen is very clean and extra amenities like toothbrush and hair combs can be found there. I enjoyed the nighttime ramen bowls on the main floor after 21:30, ice cream bars and popsicles (on the onsen floor )after 17:00 and pre biotic drinks before 10am. The breakfast was wonderful with fresh strawberries and mochi alongside typical eggs. I appreciate the Kyoto pickled deliciousness they showcased. Rooms are small in size but efficiently well kept. Location is beside a Lawson and 1.5 blocks east of Kyoto Station so this is an amazing location for travel.

While Dormy has become my favorite hotel chain in Japan, this one is a bit dingy. Breakfast was consistently good and location excellent.

I am leaving two reviews for this location. The reason I have two experiences is because I ended up having to book another room even though my initial booking said the room slept four. It did not and local laws are pretty strict for this. I have no idea how it would sleep four when there were only two twin beds. Luckily I was able to stay in the same hotel as the rest of my family by booking my own room which was unexpected. TL;DR. Make sure the room does actually allow 4 people to sleep. Their explanation for that particular room was 2 adults and two kids under 18. I don't see how that would have been possible with two twin beds. Communication via the Expedia app was non-existent for this particular location. I had reached out to them asking if it did sleep 4 a month prior to our trip. No response. Other than that mix up and miscommunication, I enjoyed my stay. The onsen is a bonus along with the free ramen at night. This location is strict about tattoos and does provide coverings for smaller tattoos.
