I originally signed up for the Starbucks DMZ tour, but due to insufficient participants, the platform asked if I wanted to join another non-military DMZ tour. From the very beginning, when we met in Hongdae, our guide Jean was very proactive in contacting us via WhatsApp, so we never had trouble finding her. She patiently answered all our questions and explained the relationship and history between North and South Korea in Chinese throughout the tour, helping me understand the love-hate relationship that has spanned 5,000 years. Overall, it was excellent value for money. Highly recommended! 👍

It felt like a private tour with just the four of us: the three of us and one other person. Our guide, the handsome Mr. Kim, was very kind and shared a lot of information about Korea. The Starbucks at the DMZ isn't very spacious, but from the observatory, North Korea is very close. It was like looking for UFOs with a telescope, but we were looking for people, and we saw someone riding a bicycle. Listening to Mr. Kim talk about the Korean War gave us a lot to think about. On the way back, the person who came with us didn't want to go to the outlet, so it became a completely private tour. Mr. Kim took us to a local restaurant, which was a valuable experience. I would love to go again if I have the chance.

The last-minute availability to book this tour is really great for solo travelers with spontaneous trip itineraries. I joined this tour with Mr. Shin as our guide; he's very nice and fluent in English, explaining some facts about the North and South Border. I appreciate the direct message he sent to make sure to give instructions and spots to explore. The pickup transfer/driver was on time. Recommended for everyone else to book the tour! :)

The main purpose of this trip was to visit the Starbucks closest to North Korea. We were very lucky to have a clear, sunny day! Our tour guide, Owen, was excellent. He chatted with us and explained the history of the two Koreas throughout the journey, patiently answering all our questions. His personal story of his family being separated and then reunited sounded truly like a movie plot – incredibly interesting! Guide Owen helped us find a North Korean school through binoculars, as well as North Koreans herding sheep and even riding bicycles, LOL. Starbucks didn't seem to have any special DMZ-only mugs; I'm not sure if they don't make them or if they were sold out. However, they did have a Gyeonggi (Gyeonggi Province) city mug with a small DMZ section on it, so I bought that one as a souvenir. It was a very pleasant half-day tour, definitely worth spending a morning on!

She explained the history clearly and made the experience both educational and fun. We felt safe and well-taken care of every step of the way. We were picked up at Myeongdong Station at 9 AM by a very nice car, and the ride was very comfortable and pleasant. Our guide, HANA, provided explanations in English. It would be quite difficult if you don't understand English. There were many large tour buses at the DMZ, but Starbucks wasn't very crowded, so we were able to relax and have some tea. We only stayed there for about an hour, so it would have been better if the stay had been a bit longer. Also, there were more Instagrammable photo spots than I expected, from the parking lot to Starbucks. We arrived at our drop-off point on the way back around 1:56 PM. Since it's a place you can't go to individually, I highly recommend joining a tour.

Mr. Shin is an informative tour guide. He offers his perspective on modern Korean thought. It was nice to have breakfast overlooking North Korea.

Ko-san was our Japanese guide. The tour itself was carefully guided in Japanese. The tour content was a visit to Starbucks, followed by about an hour and a half of free time, and then it concluded. It was a very valuable experience. Please don't forget to bring your passport. We were picked up at Myeongdong Station. Just go in front of the 7-Eleven and you'll be fine.
