This was my second visit to Nagano, and to make the trip more relaxed (and avoid the hassle of transfers), I once again booked a tour. The itinerary included a visit to Zenko-ji Temple, sake tasting, lunch, and a close-up viewing of the snow monkeys. The weather was excellent that day, which made the entire journey even smoother.
Our guide, Kevin, provided very clear explanations at each attraction. Whether it was the historical background of Zenko-ji Temple or Japanese religious culture, he presented it with a logical flow and vivid imagery. Although he is a foreigner, he offered unique perspectives, helping us understand the natural evolution of socio-cultural aspects, which made it easier to connect with the information.
The tour also included appropriate free time. The close-up viewing of the snow monkeys was quite interesting, and the staff at the sake brewery were very friendly. Lunch was good; both the tempura and sushi were delicious. The portion size might have been a bit small for some male travelers, but there were also some snacks available for purchase along the way to replenish energy.
Kevin was very attentive to the needs of the group members throughout the entire trip. Although English is not my native language, and most of the group were English-speaking travelers, he paid attention to everyone's needs at each stop. Especially on the walking path to see the snow monkeys, he monitored each group member's walking pace, clearly pointed out things to watch out for, and his handling of safety made everyone feel secure.
This trip left me with very fond memories and brought great energy. It was a travel experience worth cherishing.
