Our pilgrimage to Mount Koya was made truly special by the knowledgeable guide, Hanazawa. He was intimately familiar with the centuries-old stories of these mountains and forests, from the ancient legend of the Vermilion Goddess of Niu Shrine to the origins of Buddhist teachings in the tranquil woods of Okunoin. Every word he spoke revealed his deep understanding of the area. He patiently and gently answered our endless questions, slowing his pace to wait for us and meticulously explaining the profound meaning of each historical site. There was no rushing; only a leisurely, immersive experience of understanding a World Heritage site. This professional yet gentle service made our journey through the mountains much warmer and unforgettable. We are grateful to Hanazawa.

Tai is a very helpful and friendly tour guide. He took the initiative to help me with photos since I was traveling alone. The tour itinerary itself was actually quite scenic. Unfortunately, our tour coincided with Typhoon Jangmi passing through, so it was storming heavily, and we didn't get to see the beautiful Awajihanasajiki TT. However, I'm also thankful the tour wasn't canceled and we returned safely.

I highly recommend Kumano Sanzan to friends who love nature and culture! The scenery along the way is beautiful, with stunning lakes and mountains. The mini-bus was smooth and comfortable, the driver was exceptionally courteous, and the itinerary was well-paced and fulfilling. We even saw deer near Nachi Falls, which was incredibly lucky!

Yen, our driver and tour guide, drove very steadily and was incredibly kind, enthusiastic, and took great care of us. There were only two of us that day, and the guide spoke both Chinese and English. In the car, he played audio guides (available in both Chinese and English). At each scenic spot, he would thoughtfully introduce the key highlights to us first, or walk with us while explaining the main points, and then allow us to explore freely. He managed the tour time very well, and his driving was very smooth and safe. What was most touching was that before visiting the Goma fire ritual and Okunoin, Yen thoughtfully prepared "hankesa" (half-stoles) for us to wear around our necks, making our participation in the ritual feel more solemn. After we finished walking through Okunoin (which requires a bit of hiking) and returned to the parking lot, he even thoughtfully prepared dorayaki snacks and tea for us. You could really feel how dedicated he was. I highly recommend joining his tour!

One of the best tours I've ever booked. I totally recommend it. It's not the easiest physically, but you have plenty of time to relax. Amazing views and our guide Hanazawa-San was the perfect balance. Definitely good quality. Enjoy the pictures below.
