Passeios por Tochoji Temple

This tour is the highlight of our trip to Fukuoka. It's truly enjoyable to walk and tour historical places with an English-speaking tour guide. The tour ended with a visit to the oldest sake factory. I highly recommend this relaxing and easy tour for couples.

It was a fun day visiting Amanoiwato Shrine, Takachiho Railway, and Takachiho Gorge. The best part of the tour was Takachiho Gorge with the boat ride, followed by Amanoiwato Shrine. The railway trolley experience isn't a must, as you have to remain seated and it was a bit crowded. I wished there was more time to explore Takachiho Gorge after the boat ride. Overall, it was a great day. We had Jimmy as our guide; he's funny and provided excellent service by getting our boat and railway tickets early so we didn't have to wait in line.

Itinerary: Nyorinji Temple -> Kyushu Natural Zoological Park -> Yufuin The frog decorations at Nyorinji Temple are very unique, and it happened to be holding a wind chime festival, which added another highlight. However, there are a lot of mosquitoes here in the summer! Nyorinji Temple is located in a relatively remote area, and if you're not on a day tour, you really wouldn't come here 🤣 The most anticipated part of Kyushu Natural Zoological Park is definitely the Jungle Bus. Unfortunately, the tour guide said that tickets for the Jungle Bus are very difficult to buy and were already sold out early that day (we arrived around 11 am). However, fortunately, the tour guide drove our tour bus into the natural ecological zone, so we could still see wild animals up close (although we couldn't feed them ourselves). The停留時間 (stay time) was a bit short; after getting off the tour bus, I only had time to feed the ponies and queue up to hold guinea pigs. There wasn't enough time to visit other areas. Yufuin was more free and easy; the tour guide gave us a map and let us explore on our own. We ended up having lunch at a Japanese restaurant, where the fried chicken tempura was unexpectedly delicious! However, it was almost 2 pm when we arrived in Yufuin. If you get hungry easily, I recommend having a more substantial breakfast, or simply buying some rice balls or sandwiches to eat on the bus.

Eli was a great guide, she was very helpful, had lots of information, she was very nice, friendly, great english, I have experienced other tours in the past and this was my favorite, definitely felt like a local and like going out with a friend, ahe was lovely and I fully recomend!!!!! I had an amazing time, she was also very flexible and asked if we liked the itinerary she created, amazing really!! so so happy for this experience!!

Our tour guide's name is Yoko Tateno. If I could say one thing about her, it would be that she is an open, polite, and considerate individual. We truly enjoyed her company, and I gave her a 5 out of 5-star rating. Her English skills are competent. Here is my thorough observation: She always arrived 30 minutes in advance. We typically used the subway or buses to navigate the city, depending on your schedule constraints. Fares and day cards were provided. Ms. Tateno is well-versed in the history of Fukuoka. Please wear trainers or comfortable shoes. The highlight of the journey was entering Tochoji Temple, where she led us into a dark room for an out-of-this-world experience. I would not recommend it if you are claustrophobic. We were astounded by the elaborate sculpture design, created by artisans who took only four years to complete and were meticulous in their attention to detail. Then we walked across town to another temple to discuss the various religions that shape Japan's philosophy today. The Hakata Machiya Folk Museum has a brief film presentation about Fukuoka's famed festival. Next, we went to the old and new shopping district and had lunch with her. Afterward, we took the subway to Ohori Park and appreciated the seriousness of Ohori Park's man-made Japanese garden. The last stop was the Sake brewery, where we had the opportunity to sample a variety of sake. Drink plenty of water to flush the sake, or you'll become intoxicated. To summarize, our trip was fun, entertaining, and enjoyable. I truly admire Ms. Yoko Tateno's in-depth familiarity with Fukuoka. She deserves a 5-star review.

Really Enjoy the Day Tour, while going thru each places, also learning some knowledge with the tour guide. Walking thru Takachiho Gorge, seeing the place is Relaxing. Riding the Takachiho Amaterasu Railway, you can enjoy also the different views.

The itinerary was rich and not rushed, with ample time to explore each stop. My absolute favorite part was the zoo visit, where the guide provided detailed explanations, and we could enjoy watching the animals from the air-conditioned bus. When it suddenly started raining heavily as we were about to leave Lake Kinrin, the guide's thoughtfulness became even more apparent. He held an umbrella to escort group members without one back to the bus. Absolutely fantastic!

Great walking tour with Bruce, very knowledgeable about Fukuoka. Friendly and easy going which made for an enjoyable day. Took us to some hidden gems, loved by all. Highly recommended this tour. Thanks Bruce.
