I had a great time making lanterns with this family in Vietnam. They were super friendly, clearly love what they do, and are really good at it. They made the whole process easy and fun, even for beginners. It was a cool way to learn something new and be part of a local tradition. Definitely a highlight of the trip! Word of advice: Choose the full class. You get to make your lantern from its basic parts and it really doesn't take that much more time. Else, you will just be sticking the fabric on the frame.

This is a fantastic activity that my whole family agreed was so much fun. Even if you have no craft skills, you'll go home with a pretty professional-looking lantern. They help you through the entire process. We booked the 9 am session, which I recommend because the activity is quite popular. By midday, there was already a line outside full of people waiting to come in and walk-ins. The lantern folds flat and fits in your luggage, and then you can pop it open again. We did the full lesson, which took us a little over 2 hours. I assume if you book later in the day when it's busier, it might take longer as you wait for the teachers to check your progress.

The class was so much fun! Even though I joined on my own, there were other participants and multiple members of staff who made the experience super fun and engaging! The instructions were super easy to follow.

It was an amazing and knowledgeable lantern making experience. Teaching staff were friendly and very patient. They monitored every step we made to make sure we could handle and helped fine-tune them a bit so our lanterns look nice. I specially thanked the staff were caring and patiently guiding my 4 years old girl to make the lantern. We also learned the names of different lanterns in Hoi An. The lanterns are foldable, so it is no worry to bring them home in suitcase.

It was a great class. I wasn’t sure that I wanted to do it but lanterns were looking so pretty in the whole town that I decided to opt for the class. Tam and her cousin were quite fun and helped us through the entire process amazingly. I would highly recommend this place for the express or full class of lantern making.

I highly recommend this workshop to anyone who loves making their own crafts! I had a wonderful time learning how to make lanterns from masters who showed great passion, patience, and skill. They are also available to assist you every step of the way. There are many beautiful fabrics to choose from so you can customize your lantern. It is a family business that has been around for years, highly recommended.

Such a fun and educational experience! I chose the longer workshop, so I basically got to make everything from scratch! The teachers are really knowledgable and fun and I got to take my lantern home with me (you can kind of fold them up for your trip, so they fit better)!

The class was very interesting and cozy; the staff were friendly, enthusiastic, and could communicate in both English and Vietnamese (they spoke English very naturally as they have been guiding foreign guests for many years); both the cost and time were reasonable (a short course lasting 1-1.5 hours with a pre-made lantern frame; a full class from bending bamboo, assembling the frame, to choosing fabric would last 2-2.5 hours). Newly arrived guests will be offered a Vietnamese tea welcome drink, then the staff will introduce the history of lanterns and different lantern styles. After the class, each guest will receive a small, lovely gift and take photos with their finished product. I had a fun and meaningful time here and will definitely introduce and recommend it to friends.
