There wasn't enough snow in late December, so we switched to Hakodateyama Ski Resort. We received a 2000 yen coupon as compensation. Hakodateyama had plenty of snow. The journey took about 90 minutes.

The meeting point was unclear, and there was no photo of the bus. I waited at the bus stop and was scared for 5 minutes that another bus with a lemon signboard didn't have my name. Then another yellow bus arrived. After that, everything went smoothly. Lunch at the top of the mountain was expensive, as expected. There was a set rental choice of ski or snowboard (see photo). Opting for Biwako Valley is better.

When I first thought about skiing, I knew I'd be utterly exhausted and pass out, so I bought a round-trip bus ticket to allow myself to rest well on the bus and be ready to go again after getting off. Although I didn't get to go to Lake Biwa that day as planned (not enough snow due to a warm winter), I was very surprised after heading to Hakodateyama. Not only was there enough snow on the mountain with snowflakes falling, but I also got a distant view of Lake Biwa. Please note that this is a trip without instruction. If you have absolutely no skiing experience, it's recommended to go with someone who can ski, or rent a sled to slide down the snow slope. Don't rashly buy a lift ticket only to find yourself unable to get down from the mountain top smoothly; being stuck on the ski slope is dangerous. Overall, the experience was quite good~

We were routed to Hakodateyama because there was no snow in Biwako during the first week of January. I think it would be best to go there in the last week of February. Nonetheless, we had a great time. The tour guides were helpful and polite. The travel was convenient and comfortable. The place had an awesome view of Lake Biwa. Be early or on time and always have your Google Maps ready so you won't have trouble locating the meet-up point.

On the day of the activity, we were informed that the original Biwako Valley Ski Resort was closed due to insufficient snow. The tour leader then made every effort to arrange for Hakodateyama Ski Resort, which was an additional 30 to 40 minutes drive from Lake Biwa. Although a little disappointed, the distributed meal and equipment rental coupons were very good👍🏻

I hired a private coach to teach my child skateboarding that day because the night before, I was at the hotel and didn't sleep, using the internet to handle company affairs. So, the next day, I was not feeling well and decided not to participate in the skateboarding activity, nor did I intend to ask for a refund. I believe this is my personal issue, and I don't plan to request a refund because the booking was completed, and they had already prepared all the equipment for me; it was my own last-minute decision not to participate. The coach kept asking me why I wasn't joining the activity. Was it because I was dissatisfied with the venue, equipment, or the coach personally? The coach wanted to know if it was their problem that made me not want to participate. I kept explaining that it wasn't like that and asked the coach to just teach my child. All in all, it was a great experience.

The meeting point wasn't too hard to find! However, the guide only mentioned the ski equipment rental but didn't mention that we had to go to the ticketing booth to get the ticket for the ropeway pass and ski pass. There were long lines for everything, so it was a bit frustrating after a long wait for the ropeway to realize we had no pass to get on. Apart from that, I was happy with this one-day ski trip.
