I’m so happy I booked this. It was a fascinating insight into an area I have little knowledge of. We were lucky and honoured to have Mr. Ishii himself, the current President and 6th Generation conducting the tour. The Miso tasting meal at the end of the tour in their Restaurant was probably the best meal of my entire trip, packed full of incredible flavours and contrasts. Anyone wanting to do this tour should skip breakfast so they can make the most of it. Arigato Gozaimasu 😀
super insightful experience as a major lover of red miso. the package is worth it if you find the shirt and apron useful! but for me i would have rather just the miso and meal. regardless, it was a super hearty and yummy meal 🥰
This is a self-guided tour. It is very informative as it is run by a 6th generation family member who speaks excellent English and knows the science and art of miso very well. The tour took just over 30 minutes and was followed by a delicious lunch. We were also given show bags as a bonus - I'm not sure if that always happens or if it was because it was New Year. Highly recommend - we went to the art gallery beforehand which is a 5-minute walk away.
Puedes hacer este tour gratis, pero con esta experiencia obtienes la que fue una de las mejores comidas que tuve, donde puedes probar diferentes misos y una bolsa llena de golosinas (con miso, por supuesto) para llevar a casa.
I had a wonderful experience joining this tour. The tour guide, who is the current CEO of the miso brewery, explained miso to the guests. After the guide, I had lunch featuring the miso they had crafted in the warehouse. Totally recommend!
This was our favorite part of our visit to Matsumoto. The tour was informative, easy to understand and so interesting. We started analyzing and comparing every miso soup we had on the rest of our trip after this. haha The lunch was delicious in a lovely setting. Highly recommend!
The tour guide, who is also the owner of the factory, speaks very good English and explains everything very clearly. The food served was delicious. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about miso and taste the food.
The tour was excellent, and given by the big boss himself! His English was excellent. I appreciated him taking the time to answer our questions and taking us through the process step by step, not just in his factory but also on miso production in Japan as a whole. The lunch was exceptional, the flavours perfectly balanced. The staff was courteous throughout and the gift bag was very well thought out. I enjoyed my time here and highly recommend this experience. Excellent value and a high quality experience.
We were a few minutes late because we found two similar but not identical addresses on the communication, one saying meet at the factory and another providing a different address. But the staff were lovely once we found our way. The tour is pretty short, so ask questions to get more from it. We learned a lot and it helped us realize just how special the miso we were tasting was, and the differences in how they are made in different areas. The included lunch was outstanding, one of the best meals we have had in the week since arriving, served in a tucked-away tatami-matted room. The other gifts were lovely, especially the 3-year-old miso that we will savor after we return home. If all you want is to learn about miso, then just go for the brief free tour.
