Por favor, por favor, por favor, añadan esto a sus cosas que hacer en Kobe. Este museo es una obra de arte, educación y servicio público que merece un día entero. Solo desearía haber reservado más tiempo para disfrutarlo plenamente. Las exposiciones están bien elaboradas y excepcionalmente montadas, incluso para quienes no hablan japonés.

An excellent place to visit - this institution is a combination of video, exhibits, experiment etc that paies respect to the recovery from the earthquake as well as a dynamic way to educate visitors on natural disaster. the whole place is clean, very well organised and maintained and supported by passionate staff member. highly recommended

If you’re ever in Kobe, make sure to visit the Great Awaji Hanshin Earthquake Museum. It was very interesting. They take you straight into a little theater for a 7-minute film. It’s all about the 1995 Hanshin earthquake and you get a real sense of the devastation, like the expressways buckling, buildings collapsing, and neighborhoods completely destroyed. In part is this section where they use strobing lights to simulate the chaos and confusion of the quake. You feel how terrifying it must’ve been for everyone. You then walkthrough the darkness into a recreation of the collapsed city. There’s also a short film they show, this one about a woman who, when she was 15, lost her older sister during the earthquake. You can listen with translation headphones. The museum is filled with exhibits and things like wrecked building pieces, melted coins, photos, and survivor stories. There’s a section about the rebuilding process too, and how the people of Kobe came together to pick up the pieces.

Amazing memorial museum. Very accurate geographic information about the causes of earthquakes and a good range of hands-on activities. There are a lot of photos and personal stories of the people who experienced the Kobe earthquake. Helpful staff, even when I could not speak Japanese.
