There are signs everywhere, from the subway line to the herb garden. The garden is pleasant and well-maintained. I would recommend the roundtrip ropeway tickets if you like to spend time taking photos of the flowers and landscape. The ropeway brings you up to the top of the hill, and you make your way down to the first station to take the ropeway back to ground level.

While the queue to the entrance was long, it was quick to claim the physical tickets. As you alight from the ropeway ride, you could smell the fragrance of herbs. The herb garden is for both young and old alike. There is a place with hammocks where one can bask under the sun. There is a wide array of flowers and herbs. Scent making is also available. There is a food booth that serves dinner and another one for refreshments. It was a day well spent. Facilities: restrooms are provided. Service: all of the staff were helpful. Ease of booking on Klook: it was very easy. I purchased the tickets on the day that we went.

The cable car offers a beautiful view of the city of Kobe. Once at the top, there are stalls to buy food or souvenirs. You'll find the first flowers, a rose garden, and then walk downhill through the Herbal Garden to the middle cable car station.

ここで2時間ほど過ごしました。ロープウェイでの上りは楽しかったですし、幸運にもケーブルカーを独り占めできました！頂上からの眺めも素晴らしく、神戸市と港の景色を一望できました。庭園の小道を散策しながら、さまざまな花やスパイス植物の香りを楽しめました。本当に私の内なる植物学者を呼び覚ましてくれました！

If you're going to Kobe, this is a must-do. The roundtrip cost is 2500 yen on-site, saving you 500 yen. The cable car is fabulous. I was blessed with a beautiful day. Amazing gardens and scenery.

I originally visited Nunobiki Herb Gardens just to relax amidst the fragrant flowers and plants. What truly brightened this trip was The Herb Dining, located halfway up the mountain. This restaurant is always full, requiring a waitlist registration, but waiting amidst the mountain breeze and shifting light felt like a prelude, hinting at the wonderful experience to come. The restaurant boasts high ceilings, with wooden structures and soft lines creating the warm ambiance of a European mountain town eatery. Stained glass casts fragmented light, and window seats offer views of the flowing greenery of the gardens. Online reviews describe it as "like a Swiss chalet," but sitting inside, it felt more like a place where time gently slows down. The pendant lights cast a soft glow, understated yet giving the entire space a sense of calm and quality. I ordered the special menu: Grilled Iberian Pork with Fig Agrodolce Sauce (¥3,190 + ¥500). However, what truly captivated my attention was the three-tiered appetizer stand. The eight appetizers were like a miniature garden—herbs, edible flowers, vibrant colors, and delicate cuts, as if the garden's seasons were collected on a single platter. Each bite carried the essence of herbs, gentle, refreshing, and full of vitality. This was the most anticipated meal of my trip, and it indeed became the most satisfying moment. Looking back at the restaurant before leaving, I felt that this place was more than just dining; it was a quiet landscape. If you are willing to give yourself a moment of tranquility, it is well worth slowing down in the herb gardens and letting this place add a touch of fragrance and light to your journey.

What a beautiful place! We caught the Ropeway up to the top and walked down through the gardens and waterfall. So beautiful. We wish we had allowed an extra hour to enjoy the champagne at the glasshouses and the hammocks but we’re a bit rushed. Highly recommend!
