I forgot my tour on March 6th and went on March 7th instead. When I arrived, I had a brief chat with the bus driver. He called the office to confirm my booking, and they confirmed it and allowed me to join the tour. Thank you for the great help and understanding. Meteora is such an amazing landscape; it felt so peaceful and surreal. The scenery is totally out of this world. The climb up to the monasteries can be very steep and tough for those with knee problems. Otherwise, do go up and visit all the monasteries. You have to pay an entrance fee to go in, but it's worth every penny. Inside the monasteries, there are still monks and nuns taking care of the area. Don't let the 5-hour bus ride from Athens to Meteora scare you away, because I would go there again if I ever go to Athens again; it's just so worth it. Our tour guide, Clement, is from Canada, and he speaks good English. He is so passionate about his job and all the landscape and history there; you can tell he loves Meteora.
It was an amazing tour and I enjoyed it a lot. It was easy to find the meeting point in Athens. You can stay at a local bakery while waiting for the bus. The bus has WiFi. Clement, our tour guide, is knowledgeable and very accommodating. Christos is a great driver. I enjoyed all the spots we went to. This is highly recommended!!!!
Our guide Clement is great. He has many interesting and funny stories to share with us, complete with historical photos and diagrams. He's also very helpful with taking photos and offering tips on what to pay attention to when we visit the different monasteries. Ladies don't really need a long dress; the guide or monastery provides a scarf for free. I do wish there was a larger sign on the transfer bus with Klook/the guide's name/tour company, as many transfer buses arrive at the restaurant stops at similar times, making it a bit difficult to identify ours.
Both tours offered good value for money. Clement, our guide in Meteora from Meteora Thrones was very knowledgeable and kept us engaged throughout the tour. He was very friendly, professional and had a good sense of humour too. We visited 3 monasteries and the views there were simply amazing and out of this world! Delphi, on the other hand was full of history and the archaeological site had great views over the valley with the Mt Parnassus mountain range as the backdrop. The tour also included a visit to the Delphi Archaeological Museum too. Would highly recommend both tours if you have an extra day or two to spend in Athens!
Clement, the Tour Guide was amazing! He planned everything perfectly and we even managed to admire the sunset from the best spot. This tour does include a lot of bus travel, but once in Meteora, time seems to stand still and we always have enough time to visit the monastery. I definitely recommend it!
It was great! Personally, don't buy train tickets and make separate reservations; go with this tour instead. You'll take a large bus to Meteora, and then split into teams on nice minibuses. They'll take you to various famous spots, explain things, and give you time to get off and take photos at scenic spots. While the cost to go to Meteora is a bit high, if you plan to go, book this tour. A day trip to Meteora is sufficient; I recommend a day trip over an overnight stay (the bus ride is 5 hours one way, 10 hours round trip, which is a bit tiring, but one day in Athens provides enough time to see the sights, so if you plan 2 days in Athens, I recommend one day for Meteora and one day for Athens sightseeing). There are 3 paid attractions, 3 euros each, for a total of 9 euros (per person). Card payment is not accepted; cash only.
