For a free trip to Shizuoka, I included Kakegawa Kachoen. It was convenient and slightly cheaper to buy tickets on Klook before departing. After exiting JR Kakegawa Station and crossing the road, walk straight along the road, pass under a bridge, go through a tunnel, and you'll find it opposite a 7-Eleven. The walk is flat and takes about 15 minutes at a leisurely pace. At the ticket counter, show the QR code to the staff to exchange for a physical ticket to enter. The exhibition areas are rich and thoughtfully designed. If you enjoy close encounters with birds, I highly recommend a visit. There's an event schedule at the entrance. The outdoor show, which highlights the birds' natural behaviors, is particularly special. You can also book a penguin抱抱 photo session. First, get a reservation ticket at the ticket counter (only 10 groups for the 11:00 AM session). Gather at the designated time for a pre-shoot briefing (much of it was in Japanese, which I didn't understand). The photo session costs 700 JPY, payable at the time of the photo. They will help take photos with your own phone. Then, following the zookeeper's instructions, you can have a small penguin sit on your lap for a photo and even gently stroke it – it's a very special experience. The gift shop also has many great items to buy. I recommend arriving at 9 AM when the park opens and spending about 2-3 hours. For lunch on the way back, I suggest the soba noodle restaurant inside Kakegawa Station; their tempura and tea soba noodles are truly excellent! This attraction is suitable for the whole family and well worth a visit.

The Kakegawa Kachoen was a very impressive place. You could feed different kinds of birds (for an additional charge) in the park. There were also some bird shows that allowed you to learn more about birds. It is highly recommended to visit this place if you would like to closely observe and interact with birds. Most importantly, it is worth seeing the endangered shoebill in the park.

Kakegawa Kachoen is truly amazing! I went last month and already want to go again. It's less than a 15-minute walk from Kakegawa Station. Upon arrival, you exchange your purchase confirmation for an admission ticket. I highly recommend taking photos with the penguins, owls, and eagles, and definitely participate in feeding the penguins – it's so much fun and not expensive! You can buy a 600 yen voucher for 500 yen to join these activities. Since it was raining that day, we didn't visit the outdoor areas, but I definitely want to go back next time. Lastly, the food at Kachoen's restaurant is delicious, beautiful, and affordable – perfect for photos! We rushed in as soon as it opened, played until the afternoon, ate, and then continued playing. Even the souvenirs at the gift shop near the cashier were incredibly beautiful; we couldn't resist splurging! The birds inside Kachoen are incredibly friendly, cute, and well-behaved. It's perfect for families; children will be very happy, and adults will be excited too. I really miss the toucans and the golden conures!

Kakegawa Kachoen is amazing! The birds are so enthusiastic and not afraid of people. The restaurant is affordable and delicious, and the souvenir shop is great for browsing. You absolutely must try the limited-time penguin photo opportunity. There's a wide variety of bird species, and you can interact with all of them, holding them, taking photos, and feeding them – they're incredibly charming! The toucans, macaws, and peacocks are all very friendly and super cute. Whether it's raining or not, there are different activity areas. If you want to take photos, do it quickly, as they need to rest once the time is up. The ¥500 voucher for ¥600 is excellent value; I bought 4 sets and used them up in no time, haha!

I think this is a place bird lovers will really enjoy. The birds come very close, you can see them up close, feed them, and it's very therapeutic. The show times are also arranged so you can see everything, so if you follow the schedule, you should be able to enjoy it all. You can't get through it in just 1-2 hours.

It was 10 times more fun than I expected! It was so enjoyable to see rare birds from all over the world up close and to be able to feed them in various settings. The facility takes about 2 hours to go through at a leisurely pace, which I think is a fair price. I highly recommend getting your tickets on Klook.

It was my first visit, and I had a wonderful time. What surprised me most was how close I could get to the birds; at first, I was a little taken aback, but feeding them gradually made it more enjoyable. We arrived just after 9 AM on a holiday, and it wasn't too crowded, but it started to get busy after about two hours. I think it's better to go in the morning if you want to participate in the bird shows and events. I couldn't properly meet Futaba-chan, the shoebill, as she was hiding in her room, but I was glad to catch a glimpse of her face for a moment. I believe it's a place where not only children but also adults can enjoy themselves, as long as they're not afraid of birds.

It was so much fun! As soon as we entered, we didn't want to leave. The parrots would rush over when there was food, and then immediately leave once they finished eating – so realistic! 😂 It took some time to queue up to take photos with the owls, but we got to pet them for a bit, which was wonderful. The lunch inside was also quite good!
