Avaliações
Everything is very well arranged and organised. Right from picked up till end of hike. The accommodation lodge at Kinabalu park was fantastic. The hike was rather tough though especially the one at 2.30am to the summit. Need to pay addition to the guide and transport back to accommodation as exceeded the stipulated time though.
Wow! What a seamless experience! Borneo Calling did a great job organizing this hike for us. We were pleased with everything including the two-way transfer to KT City and Mt. Kinabalu. Not to mention our mountain guide, Hafisz. He was amazing! Just a note: Please be a responsible hiker and train for this mountain at least 2 months in advance if you are not a very active person. Include lots of cardio and Stairmaster workouts so that you won't suffer! I saw too many people break their bones or sprain their ankles. And some simply couldn't summit. This mountain requires a lot of stamina and leg strength!
The tour was well planned by the travel agency. The travel agency handling the tour is Borneo Calling. My guide provided by them was very informative and engaging, making the hike up less dull.
The tour company Borneo Calling was incredibly well-organized! Mei, our point of contact, provided timely updates and checks to ensure everything ran smoothly. On the day we arrived at the Kinabalu Lodges, check-in was seamless, and the rooms were very clean! On the day of the hike, we were introduced to our mountain guide, Sofian. He was so kind and encouraging throughout our ascent and descent. It was clear that safety was the top priority during the entire hike. The weather wasn't ideal; there was heavy rain on the first day as we hiked up to Panalaban, and we were informed that if the rainy weather persisted, the hike to the peak might be canceled. Fortunately, the rain cleared, though it remained cloudy at the summit. We were also frequently reminded to look out for signs and symptoms of altitude sickness, which was very important. The hike up to Low's Peak is challenging but absolutely worth it. Highly recommended! Still, it's not an easy hike.
Climbing the mountain required a lot of stamina and perseverance, but thanks to the beautiful scenery, the trekking friends from various countries, and the guide, I felt immense happiness and fulfillment. The pickup, drop-off, meals, and amenities were all satisfactory. Unfortunately, due to rain, the summit was closed and I couldn't conquer it, but I wasn't too disappointed as I felt I had pushed past my limits. I would love to try again next time.
It was challenging throughout the 2 days but worthwhile when I managed to reach the summit with the motivation from fellow hikers. Mei from Borneo Calling was the organizer for this climb, she did a fantastic job to ensure everything was sorted right from the start to the end!!!
I highly recommend this tour. From the beginning, their communication and answers to questions were clear and timely. The driver on the first day was friendly, professional, and provided excellent service. For the hiking trip, our guide Harry was absolutely amazing! He was patient, meticulous, and a fantastic photographer. If you have the option, I suggest you ask for him!
We participated in the 3-day, 2-night package. The first day's farm itinerary was too monotonous, and Poring Hot Spring also lacked appeal, making it feel like a wasted day. For a hiking traveler, it was too dull. I believe arranging snorkeling or seeing proboscis monkeys would be more attractive. The two-day hiking arrangement was very satisfying. The seamless round-trip transportation was convenient for travelers, and the driver was punctual and friendly. The mountain guide was very patient and able to match the pace of the travelers, making everyone feel comfortable. The mountain hut and meals were also excellent. Overall, we were very satisfied with Borneo Calling, the organizer. However, the Mount Kinabalu trek is by no means easy. In addition to adapting to high altitude, a certain level of physical fitness is required, and some sections require using both hands and feet. If it rains, the steep granite sections at the summit can be slightly slippery. We hope participants prepare themselves well, and we also hope Klook provides more tips to travelers regarding the difficulty of the climb.
On YouTube, everyone seems to hike so easily... but the starting point for this hike was 1,900m. While it wasn't full-blown altitude sickness, I had significant breathing problems from 2,500m upwards, and I wouldn't have succeeded in the climb if it weren't for the porter. The scale of it is immense. However, I still think Korean mountains are truly beautiful. ^^
