It's so nice to buy different items from Shi Yun to try. The tempura and long beans are very yummy, and I like that they mixed bits of garlic at the bottom of each pack, which added to the umami taste.

Every time I visit Ximending, passing by Shi Yuan, I'm always drawn in by the wafting aroma and the endless stream of people, but I've never actually bought anything to eat! This time, I finally fulfilled a long-held wish and ordered all my favorite fried chicken regulars – pig's blood cake, glutinous rice sausage, tempura, baby corn, and cuttlefish balls. There were still quite a lot of customers that day, but the staff were all very efficient and polite, so I didn't have to wait long! Since I could choose to dine in or take out, I opted for takeout, planning to head back to the hotel and enjoy a feast all by myself (on a business trip, staying in a hotel). The exterior of the shop has a rather artistic and literary vibe, with some original small items displayed throughout the store for customers to admire (I personally think they are for sale). The lighting is bright, and there's absolutely no oily smell that clings to you, which really surprised me! What was even more surprising was how delicious and addictive those five treasures were when I took them back to the hotel to eat! The oil was drained very cleanly, and the exteriors were all golden and crispy, but the chewiness inside was not tough or dry, and they were hot and thoroughly cooked – truly delicious! Just looking at the glutinous rice sausage and pig's blood cake, I wanted to stand up and applaud, because I'm most afraid of glutinous rice sausage absorbing too much oil and pig's blood cake being fried too hard. Shi Yuan passed with flying colors in both aspects, truly impressive, no wonder there are always so many people queuing up, it really lives up to its reputation!
