Purchase admission tickets online for the MOA Museum of Art to quickly receive a QR code for easy entry, avoiding queues.
On the afternoon of February 20th, we arrived at Atami Station and took a taxi directly to the museum with our luggage. The fare was 900 yen. Since it was a last-minute decision, we bought tickets online immediately, which was very convenient. The museum has lockers available for a refund, but our suitcase was too large, so we had to store it directly at the service desk. A tip: use the museum's Wi-Fi, otherwise, the mobile signal inside is very poor and difficult to receive. Buying tickets online is convenient; you just scan the QR code at the entrance. While there aren't many treasures, the main ones like the Golden Tea Room and the Red and White Plum Blossom folding screens are national treasures worth seeing. A pleasant surprise was the special exhibition by the master of bamboo weaving, which was excellent. The gift shop has exquisite items worth browsing. Basically, the entire museum building and its scenery are exhibits themselves. I recommend staying for 1.5 to 2 hours and relaxing at the museum's cafe. There are frequent shuttle buses to Atami Station right at the entrance, and a timetable is available there. There are buses even after closing, so you don't have to worry about being stranded on the mountain. When leaving, we troubled the service desk lady to help us call a taxi to our hotel. She was very kind and patient, and we are very grateful.
Easy to redeem! I recommend going in right when it opens to get photos of the kaleidoscope ceiling with fewer people. My large luggage was too big for the lockers, but you can ask the front desk to store it for you directly! There's no extra charge. On the way back, you can also take the shuttle bus to Atami Station for ¥200.
The exchange was very smooth, and it was a wonderful interaction with Mr. Hokusai. The kaleidoscope dome of the museum is also the best spot for photos. If you're going to Atami, I recommend visiting; there's a direct bus from the JR station 🚍
The spacious museum housed numerous exhibits, including Japanese artworks, allowing for a long and enjoyable visit. The outdoor scenery was beautiful, and the building itself felt like a work of art.
I had been curious about it after seeing it on social media. It was enjoyable to appreciate art from the Heian period to modern times. The facilities were also clean, and I was very satisfied.
It was lovely from the entrance, and I had a fulfilling time. The many artworks were also wonderful.
The art museum is very large and magnificent, with beautiful gardens. The overall experience is very comfortable, especially with its seven escalators and a kaleidoscope-like ceiling.
The museum itself is located on high ground, facing the coastline, offering an open view that is especially beautiful on a clear day. Inside, there are also art exhibits to enjoy. Furthermore, transportation is convenient with direct bus service from Atami Station, so if you're visiting Atami, it's highly recommended to stop by.
It's a museum with a beautiful view. However, there was no public transportation, so I went there feeling like I was hiking. It's definitely a place worth visiting!
