I went there at the end of December. What an unforgettable experience! The trip started with boarding the boat at sunrise and disembarking at sunset. The weather was clear and beautiful throughout the entire journey ☺️ The onboard activities were enough to fill the 3-hour boat ride. Besides floating in the sea in a lobster costume, you could also take photos on the deck and visit the captain's cabin and machine room. For lunch on the boat, there were three options: meatballs with mashed potatoes, salmon rice, and vegan pasta, all served with a bowl of soup (salmon soup / tomato vegetable soup) and garlic bread. The food wasn't exactly delicious; the meatballs seemed boiled, tasting normal, and the salmon rice was also just normal. It was very cold on the outdoor deck, but luckily, hot GLOGG was provided to warm our stomachs and hands.
Excellent experience! We went on the first day of its official season on 20 Dec. The ice was not very thick yet but enough to show us the prowess of the icebreaker. It was not thick enough for walking on ice. But when we went for the ice floating, we could climb onto the ice and stand on it, which makes a good photo. During ice floating, make sure you let the photographer take lots of photo for you and your family. They identify you by the QR code tag you wear on your wet suit, so make sure it is visible most of the time. And you pay 45euros for one printed photo and the link to the softcopy photos for that tag. Although it is quite expensive and a 2.5h drive from Rovaniemi, this cruise can accommodate children above 125cm for ice floating. Other cruises might not cater to this height.
We recently booked the Polar Icebreaker Cruise through Klook, and it was hands down one of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives! From the moment we boarded the icebreaker ship, we knew we were in for something extraordinary. The entire journey was seamless, thanks to Klook’s easy booking process and clear instructions. The cruise itself was absolutely breathtaking. Sailing through the icy waters and snow-covered landscapes, it felt like stepping into another world. The highlight, of course, was watching the icebreaker plow through thick sheets of ice - it was both thrilling and mesmerizing! The crew was incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about the Arctic environment and the science behind icebreaking. The ship was comfortable and well-equipped, with large viewing decks that allowed us to take in the panoramic views and capture incredible photos. The icy landscapes were surreal, and the sheer power of the icebreaker cutting through the frozen sea was a sight we’ll never forget. What made this experience even better was the professionalism and enthusiasm of the staff. They were attentive, friendly, and made sure everyone felt safe and informed throughout the journey. The onboard amenities, including warm drinks and lunch, were a nice touch, especially in the chilly air. We highly recommend this Polar Icebreaker Cruise to anyone looking for a unique and awe-inspiring adventure. Whether you’re a nature lover, an adventure seeker, or just someone who wants to experience something truly extraordinary, this cruise is worth every penny.
The bus that picked us up was very punctual, large, and comfortable. We spent 6 hours traveling back and forth, but it was worth it and we didn't feel overly tired. The food on the boat was better than expected. The boat was a bit old, but not too bad. It was quite complex, so if you have children, you might need to keep a close eye on them as they could get lost. We chose the afternoon tour, which meant the boat followed the same path that had already been cut through the ice. If we had gone in the morning, we might have seen new ice being cut. We didn't have much time for swimming. The staff were polite and helpful, assisting with changing clothes. There were staff members taking photos. After swimming, you have to select the photos and pay 20 Euros to download them.
We really loved this amazing tour. It was one of the best experiences of our lives. The scenery was gorgeous. I would suggest arriving 30 minutes early to have enough time to explore the entire cruise. Please bring enough clothing because it will be freezing cold and windy.
the highlight experience on my journey in finland, cool ship , cool place , lunch was good! transportation transfer was efficient and very friendly guider and staff at the ship! just wear proper attire for this cool journey!!
Santa Claus Village has a pick-up point. It was quite convenient to take an overnight train to Rovaniemi and then join this tour. The icebreaker was very impressive, and walking on the ice after getting off the ship was a lot of fun. The meal was also delicious. Everyone receives their own wristband, and you just follow the allocated times for meals and putting on the survival suit for the water. Most of the time is free, and there isn't a guide providing special explanations. Be aware that if you're on the afternoon tour, lunch won't be served until 2-3 PM, so if you get hungry, eat more in the morning.
It was one of the best experiences of my life. This tour is really worth joining. Remember to arrive 30 minutes early so you can explore the entire cruise.
I booked the 11 AM tour and waited at the Rovaniemi Tourist Information Center. The tour guide arrived on time, and after boarding the bus, we headed straight to the icebreaker terminal in Sweden. The most exciting part was seeing the ship break through the ice to create a path as it sailed. After lunch, we could even get off the ship to walk and take photos on the ice. Afterwards, we put on survival suits and floated in the icy water, which didn't feel cold at all. This activity was a very enjoyable experience; although it was a bit expensive, it was definitely worth it!
When you go to the Arctic, you must experience an Arctic icebreaker cruise, float on the sea in a buoyant lobster suit 🦞, and walk in the middle of the sea. An Arctic Circle trip is a must-do experience.
