Passeio pelo Torneio de Sumô de Tóquio

We went to day 5 of the September 2026 tournament. Our guide Harumi was WONDERFUL! She gave us all the explanations we needed and got us excited for a show and sport we knew very little about coming in. It might not be clear from the description but the guide sticks around with the group for the whole tournament and will point out interesting points and particular customs or unique wrestlers. At one point I had a complicated question about one of the customs and she ran off to check the details and come back with a complete answer! I appreciated the dedication, she went truly above and beyond. I also recommend running around the stadium and seeing the side attractions, the Chanko stew in the basement especially was a highlight, delicious and very affordable at 500 yen a bowl. in conclusion, if you're in tokyo during a sumo tournament - don't miss it!!! I do recommend bringing binoculars though, I regret not bringing some.

What an amazing experience. Emi was charming, funny and informative and obviously has a real passion for sumo. We loved every moment. It was the highlight of our trip to Japan. If you get the chance, do not miss this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Michiko was INCREDIBLE. If you're lucky enough to have her as your tour guide, she explained the history of Sumo, how it works, traditions, fun facts, and even provided great visuals to understand what we were watching. She elevated the experience to where we enjoyed the show to the fullest extent, the location itself, and were guided to the best souvenir shops. We were lucky to be part of a small group. S class seats are the way to go! Best view of the house with some amazing takeaway treats!

Our guide was very knowledgeable, I believe her name is Mrs. Yuki. She was truly passionate about Sumo, and all the information and knowledge we gained from her, along with her energy, made it a great experience. I highly recommend this because it's very traditional, people in Japan truly love it, and it's something really cool. I've seen Muay Thai and boxing matches, and Sumo is definitely not far behind; it's really awesome!

Incredible experience! I had tried to buy tickets directly on the official website but without success. I immediately bought through Klook and thankfully so! The organization is perfect, our guide was great, very kind and informative, speaking very understandable English. We were on the second floor (2F) and could see very, very well! Don't hesitate for a second, if you see seats on the second floor, row S or A, buy them, you won't regret it!!!

We had a knowledgeable and fun guide, plus the Basho was exciting to watch. The event sold chanko for 500 yen and there was merchandise to buy inside the venue to cheer on your favorite rikishi. If you are already a sumo fan, the lecture isn't really necessary, but this is still the easiest way to get tickets. I just wish we could attend the entire event to see the lower divisions as well.

This by far was my favorite experience in Tokyo! So much fun!! Tour guide was very knowledgable and gave great history and background of sumo. Our seats were great and we were able to see every match perfectly. I highly recommend this tour!!

Our guide, Kaoru, clearly explained sumo to us. She provided us with important information about sumo's history, rules, and how to watch it. It was a truly wonderful experience watching sumo.

We had a fantastic time at the Sumo Grand Tournament. We were unable to secure tickets via the official website because they sold out so fast and were skeptical about paying for this tour initially as it was four times the price of the tickets alone, however, we are delighted that we paid for it and we would definitely do this tour again if we returned to Tokyo during a Sumo tournament. Our guide, Miko, was fantastic - her English was excellent, she was friendly, professional and incredibly knowledgeable about sumo. Miko’s knowledge and excitement for the tournament was brilliant and it made us much more knowledgeable and excited too. If you plan on doing this tour, consider booking a local restaurant for Chanko-nabe (the hot pot the sumo wrestlers eat) well in advance because they were all fully booked and sadly we were unable to secure a spot! You can buy Chanko-nabe at the stadium though during the matches but it’s only available until 4pm (your guide will explain this).

Our guide, Ms. Kumi, was very enthusiastic and shared a lot of sumo knowledge. I chatted with her in English and Japanese about various aspects of sumo matches. The meeting point was at the Ryogoku View Hotel, where we spent about 20 minutes receiving English brochures, the day's sumo match-ups, and admission tickets. After the guide's explanation, we proceeded to the Kokugikan. I had watched sumo broadcasts on NHK since I was a child, and in recent years, I started watching matches on Abema TV based on recommendations from Japanese friends. This was my first time stepping into the Kokugikan to watch a sumo match live, and the excitement of being there in person was far greater than watching a broadcast. I'm very glad I purchased a 2nd-floor A-seat through Klook; the view was excellent. I will definitely come back to watch again if I have the chance.
