June is the operator, she texted me after I signed up for the day trip and before the actual day, then texted me again to inform me who the tour guide would be. On the day of the trip, our tour guide, Michelle, picked us up on time and we had a wonderful time. She is very good and knowledgeable. She explained everything along the trip, and we got to see many cranes and enjoy the river hiking. This was a very unique experience, and we all liked it very much.
Hantan river is about 2hrs drive from Seoul. Though the journey is slightly long, the breathtaking scenary along the river makes it a worthwhile trip. Our tour is a small group. Hence, we have Sebastian as both our guide and driver. He makes sure we get to see the cranes and ensures we covered all the itineary. Appreciated his effort very much! Overall, We are very happy we selected this package and highly recommend this.
Our guide Jimmy was very friendly and knowledgeable when bringing us around the countryside. He also had very good recommendations when it came to lunch and even helped us to translate when ordering from the local restaurant as we only spoke English. The Crane watching experience was also very beautiful with a very good and unintrusive view of the plains where the birds congregate. The trek along the Hantan river was also very scenic and picturesque as advertised. On top of the big list items Jimmy also brought us around to a couple of nice scenic prototyping locations in between certain points of our journey. All around a great day out and a very worthwhile day trip.
Michelle Hong was the tour guide for this trip and a major contributor to this perfect journey. We are very grateful that she specially returned to her hometown from the United States to introduce us to one of Korea's four precious UNESCO World Heritage sites. In addition to providing in-depth and clear explanations of the attractions themselves, Michelle was also very willing to answer the group members' various questions about Korean life, history, and culture. I particularly noticed Michelle's meticulous care for each member, her excellent time management and ability to create a lively on-site interactive atmosphere, as well as her rich experience in flexibly optimizing the itinerary according to the actual situation of the day, making the overall experience even more perfect. Whether it was the red-crowned crane viewing or the ice trekking, both greatly exceeded my expectations. The migratory birds flying freely in the morning light and nature presented an incomparably harmonious and beautiful scene, and Michelle had prepared binoculars with sufficient clarity for us in advance, making the crane watching process completely satisfying. The Korean meal, decided by vote at noon, was quite delicious and also a great Korean cultural experience. As for the ice trekking, the canyon landscape further highlighted its geological beauty against the soft reflections of the ice surface and snow. Although the overall hiking route was not strenuous or difficult, there were still a few sections that required climbing slopes or stepping over rocks for those with limited mobility. Since this is a winter-exclusive tour, please be sure to prepare your own windproof and warm clothing. However, precisely because it is a winter-exclusive and a UNESCO-certified site, coupled with Michelle's professional guidance and meticulous care, even though the trip is far from the capital and requires early starts and late returns, if you love the beauty of nature, please feel free to sign up!
Michelle Hung is a very kind and professional tour guide. Her English is excellent, and during the trip, she explained various geological facts and knowledge about Korean history and culture. The highlight of this tour was definitely the seasonal red-crowned cranes. The guide took us to a small private viewing area in the conservation zone to fully appreciate these precious and beautiful rare visitors. Furthermore, the hike along the Hantan River was also well worth the trip. Although the price is slightly higher compared to other tours on the platform, it is absolutely great value for money for travelers who love nature!
The tour guide was enthusiastic and attentive, and the vehicle was spacious and comfortable. The itinerary offered a different side of Korea. The hiking trails were not too difficult, the scenery was beautiful, and seeing wild birds was a unique experience, sitting and waiting for every moment of surprise. The guide took us to a noodle restaurant for a self-paid lunch, which was inexpensive and delicious.
Our tour guide Sebastian is really nice and heart-warming. There are quite a lot of cranes to see, and Sebastian kindly took us to different places to observe the animals, providing binoculars (very kindly provided by the tour guide). The river trekking is manageable with beautiful scenery. You might not be able to walk on ice because the weather isn't cold enough, but there's still a floating bridge for you to walk on the river. Make sure you bring enough clothes and heat packs. The best thing is that the group size is pretty small, so the tour guide can literally communicate with everyone.
Guide Michelle was attentive and knowledgeable. The itinerary is one if a kind and unlike your usual touristy activities. Great to get out of the buzzling packed Seoul and experience the untouched nature. Synchronized crane flying with the professional photographers at the same location was a ‘geographic’ moment. The Hantang River short hike had its ‘wow’ moments too. Lunch recommendation at a local traditional restaurant with home made dangjang was fantastic.
a great, relaxed very small group tour. our guide was excellent and the van was super comfy. definitely for the adventurous, lots of walking but it was a perfect day out and we saw many many cranes and birds. the pace was also quite nice and not rushed.
