Great experience. The shop owners were very friendly, informative and encouraging, with genuine willingness to share their experiences in tofu pudding making. They were also super nice and accommodated to the last minute booking we made. We had an amazing time learning about tofu pudding making, and tasting the beancurd we made as well. The boat ride took about 20 minutes, it was interesting to see houses built on stilts, just do not expect to see dolphins as sighting is rare. Do note that the address provided by Klook is wrong, the tofu making class is at 82 Kat Hing Street instead. Highly recommended for unique local experience.
The tofu pudding making experience was truly wonderful! I learned the traditional methods of grinding soybeans to make soy milk from both the Tanka and Hakka people, which was really interesting. Being able to make tofu pudding by hand felt particularly rewarding. Ms. Ying was very kind and patiently taught us how to make tofu pudding, making the whole process easy and fun. The venue was very clean, and Ms. Ying's explanations were very clear, making it easier for us to understand each step. This is a highly recommended and enjoyable experience! The boat ride experience was also very special, with beautiful scenery along the way.
The workshop was excellent and instructor was accommodating. After making 豆腐花,the instructor also provided material to make 花生糯米糍 afterwards! The instructor was very accommodating with food allergies. One of the participant in the workshop has a nut allergy and the instructor quickly separated the material to minimize contamination and offered red bean filling for the 糯米糍 for the person with allergy. The instructor also asked for our water bottle to fill them with the leftover soy milk that wasn't used for making the 豆腐花. The instructor does not speak English but we understand Cantonese.
The staff were very kind and patient in teaching us how to make tofu pudding. They taught us the methods used by the 'water people' (large basin + pestle) and the Hakka people (stone mill) to grind soybeans into soy milk. Finally, we used the soy milk to make and eat tofu pudding. The tofu pudding tasted good! The boat ride experience was also great, and we were lucky enough to see dolphins. This experience is highly recommended!
購票後有人whatsapp 聯絡接洽 活動次序可以彈性安排 遊船體驗不錯, 但船手說明太簡單而且只有廣東話 最後豆腐花製作有豆漿作為紀念品帶走 體驗不錯
The explanation from Miss Ying was clear, the place was tidy, and it was an interesting experience.
I booked the 1 PM slot, but when I went to the Tofu Pudding shop after exchanging my boat tickets, the staff seemed surprised and asked why we arrived an hour early. They said their information indicated a 2 PM booking and that the shop wasn't ready yet, asking us to wander around for a bit. Although we weren't in a hurry, we had specifically come to Tai O for this experience (having visited a month prior), so we were a bit disappointed. Perhaps because we booked only the day before, the arrangements felt a bit chaotic. However, the shop owner later enthusiastically explained the tofu pudding making process. Still, if you're making a special trip to Tai O just for this experience, it might not be entirely worth it.
