Since this activity was a bit niche, there weren't many participants, only about 10 group members. The tour guide was friendly and approachable. Although we only visited one themed park, I could see that he and the park staff made sure to show us the most essential and selected facilities, such as gold panning, gold casting demonstrations, and the mining train. The actors in the park were also fully immersed in their roles, transporting everyone back to the gold rush era, and they warmly welcomed us, even seeing us off back to our tour bus. We had a very pleasant day.

The overall activity was excellent👍🏻. Sovereign Hill truly felt like stepping back in time. There were many NPCs dressed in period costumes, explaining the lives of people back then. You could experience gold panning, learn how people made sugar, and produced gold bars. It's definitely worth a visit. My only regret about the entire experience was not having enough time to take black and white saloon photos in period costumes. The tour guide didn't inform us beforehand that it takes an hour to get the finished saloon photos. Therefore, when I found the saloon photo shop, I only had less than half an hour before I had to leave the park, so there was no way I could wait for the finished product. I hope the tour guide can inform us in advance about the time required for such activities. If we want to take saloon photos, they should take us there first, and then this situation wouldn't happen.

A very enjoyable trip, Mark is a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, he teaches us gold panning skills and he tells us very much about the history of that area during the trip. Since gold panning is really interesting, I definitely recommend this activity as one of must try items in Melbourne.

We had a fantastic day at Sovereign Hill! The tour was very well organised, and everything ran smoothly from pickup to drop-off. There was so much to see and do, including gold panning, watching the blacksmith demonstrations, exploring the old streets, and learning about Australia's gold rush history. The free time was just right to explore at our own pace and take plenty of photos. This experience was enjoyable for both adults and children, making it a perfect family day trip from Melbourne.
