Experiência de cruzeiro na Ilha Gunkan (Nagasaki)

A world cultural heritage site that is very much worth visiting. The overall arrangement and process were very smooth. The boat's environment and seating were also quite good. Fortunately, even though the weather was not great and it was raining, we were still able to go ashore and visit the island. Before landing, the boat circled Gunkanjima, allowing everyone on board to see the island up close and take photos, which was excellent. The tour guide was also very dedicated, introducing the history and information of Gunkanjima both on the boat and on the island. As a Hong Kong tourist who doesn't understand Japanese, I was given a traditional Chinese translation booklet containing all the information the guide would share. Overall, it is highly recommended!

Check-in takes place at the Gunkanjima Digital Museum, where you can learn about Hashima Island through various audiovisual displays. You can visit the museum with your ticket both before and after the boat tour. Renting an audio guide for the island tour is not recommended, as it uses GPS to play pre-recorded commentary and reception is poor; it is better to watch the introductions at the digital museum beforehand. (An additional fee is required on-site, though I forget what it was for.)

We were very lucky to have great weather on July 21, 2026, allowing us to land and tour the island. We first visited the Gunkanjima Digital Museum, where we purchased an audio guide in Chinese. The counter provided headphones, and upon boarding the boat, we received the device for Chinese commentary. There is also a guide on the boat, but since we don't understand Japanese, those with a real-time translator can try using it to listen along. There is absolutely no shade on the island, and umbrellas are not allowed, so if you are visiting in the summer, remember to wear a hat and take precautions against the sun.

Experience: It's recommended to set aside some time to visit the Hashima Island Digital Museum first to learn about its history. There's a lot of information, which is very valuable for understanding Hashima Island. The weather was good on the day of boarding, but the waves in the open sea were still very strong. We successfully landed on the island in the end. Although we could only visit a small part, it was truly a very special travel experience. Thanks to the guide's explanations and the assistant's help.

Booking tickets on Klook is very convenient. I bought a 1:30 PM boat ticket, and the meeting time was 12:00 PM. First, we registered, then we were free to visit the exhibition hall and buy souvenirs. There was plenty of time. At 1:00 PM, we gathered at the pier opposite. The staff's instructions were very detailed. Unfortunately, the weather was bad, and it started raining when we arrived at Gunkanjima. The staff thoughtfully prepared raincoats for us. Everyone should bring an extra windproof and waterproof jacket, as it gets quite cold out at sea. If the weather is good, a hat and sunglasses are essential. The boat will circle Gunkanjima on the way for everyone to take photos. The entire trip ends, and we disembark at the pier at 4:30 PM. So, if you can arrive early at the exhibition hall to visit and shop first, you can leave directly after disembarking without having to go back to the exhibition hall. If you're driving, it's also convenient, as there are parking lots near the pier and exhibition hall.

It's a shame my boat cruise was cancelled due to huge waves on a rainy day. I received an email about the cancellation at 8:30 AM while we were on our way to the museum at 9:00 AM. We bought museum tickets at half price for cancelled visitors and had a great time slowly going through all the interactive and visual exhibitions. We ended up spending 2.5 hours there, instead of the 1+ hour originally planned if the boat cruise had proceeded that day.

It's okay, I booked your afternoon tour. There's no need to arrive early at reception. Plus, you can only see a small part of Battleship Island, which was a bit disappointing.

The redemption process was very smooth. Before boarding, we visited the Battleship Island Digital Museum to understand its background, and there was also a Cantonese audio guide available during the boat tour. The scenery of Battleship Island was incredibly stunning, though it was a pity that the waves were too high that day, preventing us from landing and only allowing us to view it from the boat. Nevertheless, the overall experience was still very satisfying.

It was a great experience. The weather was excellent that day. After about an hour's boat ride, we could see Gunkanjima and successfully disembark to visit. There was someone explaining and leading the tour along the way!

Successfully landed on the island on May 8, 2026. Visiting a World Heritage site was an unforgettable experience. The staff were friendly and the Battleship Island mascot was adorable. Highly recommended to everyone.
