Great experience, just need to head to the counter at the port and the staff will issue the ferry tickets accordingly. Likewise, when we reached Tokashiki Island, there was someone to pick us up. The itinerary was quite relaxed as our snorkeling was at 12:30 PM, so we had some time to spend at the beautiful beach since we arrived around 10:15 AM. The snorkeling experience was great too for a first-timer like myself - all the equipment was provided and the instructors were experienced in showing us where to look for turtles and fish, etc. We were very lucky that the waters were clear and we could see many fish too!
I love Okinawa and this is a must-do activity because we had so much fun. The staff were very nice and helpful. We had an amazing time on the island. Will definitely go back there and stay longer. First time to hold a sea cucumber and swim with the turtles. 😍😍😍
The best choice for a day trip island hopping in Okinawa! If possible, book your high-speed ferry tickets one or two weeks in advance, as the regular ferry is slower. The high-speed ferry allows you to arrive at the beach earlier to explore, but both high-speed and regular ferry passengers start snorkeling at the same time. I took the regular ferry and arrived at the port at 11:30 AM, but I had to rush through my curry lunch because we had to gather and put on our gear by 12:00 PM. Unfortunately, the lunch time was too short. I recommend eating something on the boat to tide you over. After putting on our gear, we took a car to Tokashiku Beach, a quieter beach with fewer people. Before entering the water, the instructor took photos for us. Those who can't swim can hold onto a floating noodle and follow the instructor. It's mandatory to wear a life vest and not take it off. We were very lucky that day to see not only coral and tropical fish, but also a sea cucumber and a small sea turtle. The instructor used a 360 camera to take photos of everyone in the water, and you can download the photos to keep after the activity. However, I didn't rent a wetsuit, so I got sunburned after the activity, which was very painful. I recommend bringing your own or renting a wetsuit, especially during the hot summer. All in all, it was a great experience! Highly recommended!
A great family-friendly activity! If you don't want to rent a car for an extra day (car rentals in Okinawa are quite expensive), you can consider taking a taxi to and from Tomari Port for check-in and boarding. On the way back, you can walk about ten minutes to the nearest hotel and then call a taxi back to your own hotel. The boat ride to Tokashiki Island is a little over an hour. The waves can be a bit rough, so those prone to seasickness should be aware. Upon arrival, there will be a shuttle bus to a shop near Aharen Beach for equipment and rest. Everyone's equipment is already sorted and labeled with their names, which is very thoughtful! The itinerary is generally as follows: in the morning, you'll go snorkeling at Tokashiku with an instructor. The instructor will pull a tube to a spot with coral and fish, so you don't have to worry about not knowing how to kick with fins if you hold onto the tube. The activity ends after 12 PM, and you'll return to the shop to enjoy curry rice. The afternoon is free time. You can continue to borrow equipment and swim at Aharen Beach, where there's also a small coral reef. At 3 PM, everyone gathers to take the shuttle bus and then the boat back to the pier.
High-speed ferry -> Tokashiki Island snorkeling activity is highly recommended. The day before, the contact person will send a LINE message to remind you. There's a shop next to the meeting point where you can buy rice balls/fish cakes/drinks, and a LAWSON selling frozen drinks/motion sickness medicine, so there's no need to prepare beforehand. There are restrooms on the boat. On the day, wear your swimsuit in advance, and once you arrive at Aharen Beach, put on your gear and go straight into the water. Bring your own picnic mat for personal belongings. The coach diligently searches for beautiful corals, fish, and sea turtles, and also helps everyone take photos. How can you miss an island-hopping trip in Okinawa? You can really book this! 😎😎
An amazing experience!! We gathered in the morning and took a boat to the destination. Along the way, the deep blue sea was incredibly beautiful!! Upon arrival, everyone's snorkeling equipment was already prepared. After a simple curry rice meal, we had some free time. Later, the instructor took us snorkeling, and we saw many colorful fish, beautiful corals, and even sea turtles!! Finally, the shop owner was very responsible and sent me the photos!! Many thanks!! This time I went alone, but next time I plan to choose this place again with my boyfriend!!
You will receive an email or Line message reminder one day in advance. On the day of the tour, there will be Chinese-speaking staff at the pier's check-in counter to explain the day's itinerary. After receiving your boat ticket, follow the instructions to walk to the designated pier and board the boat. Upon arrival, a shuttle bus will take you to Tokashiki Beach. For lunch, you can choose between curry rice, Okinawa soba, or gyudon at the hotel. You'll check in and gather at the pier at 8:30 AM. Lunch is from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. At 4:20 PM, you'll return to the pick-up point for the shuttle back to the pier. The entire trip is self-guided and very convenient. Once there, you can simply arrange your own activities, sunbathe, swim, and more!
There's no need to worry about transportation, it's very convenient. However, the snorkeling time is scheduled for 12:20 PM, and lunch is from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. It feels a bit rushed to eat and then digest the food. We started on the beach after 10:00 AM, so I feel the snorkeling could be scheduled a bit later; the timing might be more ideal then. The scenery is truly beautiful, but it's a shame we didn't see any sea turtles. The instructors were great, but there wasn't an instructor who spoke Chinese. The shuttle driver, an auntie, was very kind, but all the explanations were in Japanese, which was a bit of a pity as we couldn't understand anything.
