The Basilica Cistern offered me an astonishing experience; it's hard to imagine such a magnificent ancient reservoir hidden beneath the city. The skip-the-line ticket was incredibly convenient, saving me from long waits under the scorching sun, and the entry process was smooth. With the audio guide, I learned about the history of its construction and the stories behind it. Tall stone columns are neatly arranged, and the lights reflect on the water, creating an incredibly atmospheric ambiance. The Medusa column is a classic highlight here, mysterious and very distinctive. Walking through the damp corridors, a profound sense of ancient history washes over you. The overall pace of the visit was comfortable, magical yet stunning, and full of mystery. It's an unmissable attraction when visiting Istanbul.

I bought tickets for Hagia Sophia and the Basilica Cistern without a guide. Even with a guide, the price doesn't change much, but it's recommended to go after having some understanding of the place beforehand, perhaps by looking at someone's SNS or posts. I really don't like waiting in those lines... Even if you show the QR code sent to you in advance, there's still a bit of a wait at the baggage check, and after passing through a strange gate, you can finally enter. Once inside, be prepared for tourist congestion. If you want to buy a regular-priced ticket on-site and enter, even if it means losing time, it's best to find the ticket counter an hour before the facility opens and line up at least 30 minutes beforehand. That way, you might be able to leisurely walk through at least one area smoothly. After leaving, by the time you try to buy tickets for other places on-site, you'll have to wait in considerable lines, so are you prepared for that? Whether you go with or without a guide, buying tickets in advance will make for a more meaningful sightseeing experience! I'm glad I bought them.

The underground palace, a mysterious space, is lit up. This cool facility is not a mosque or a palace, but a water purification plant that managed the city's water supply. The entrance was difficult to find, and I struggled to locate the small entrance across the road. This tourist spot, which everyone should visit at least once, is crowded, and everyone is taking photos, making it difficult to navigate the narrow passages. Since you follow a set route, the visit automatically ends in about 30 minutes. It's definitely a great place for photos.

At 9 am, there was already a long queue at the entrance. Fortunately, we joined a skip-the-line tour, allowing us direct entry and saving a lot of time. Descending into the Basilica Cistern was truly breathtaking; I never imagined such a massive underground reservoir, built 1500 years ago, could be so well-preserved to this day. After the guide's explanation, we were free to explore at our leisure, with no time limit, allowing us to meticulously appreciate every column and corridor, every detail. This experience was fantastic, and I highly recommend it; everyone visiting Istanbul should come and see this.

The meeting point for the guide was easy to find. The guide's explanation at the start of the tour lasted about 15 minutes. After that, we were on our own, and there was no time limit inside the cistern. We appreciated the guide's honesty regarding the history of the cistern. The place has been commercialized with lighting and art displays, but it was nicely done.

Muhteşem bir tarihe sahip inanılmaz bir yeraltı yapısı. Aydınlatma büyülü bir atmosfer yaratıyor ve Medusa başları mutlaka görülmeli. İstanbul gezi planınıza eklemenizi şiddetle tavsiye ederim.

The Basilica Cistern ticket line is always busy, so buying skip-the-line access is a great way to save time. This will give you more time to explore other attractions in the area, and every penny spent is worth it. This cistern is awesome and a must-see during your Istanbul visit; we were surprised how big it is! Truly one of the best places to see in our lifetime, highly recommended!
