Waitomo Tours

De tour was goed georganiseerd, informatief en van begin tot eind plezierig. Het was fascinerend om meer te leren over de geschiedenis en de details achter de schermen van de set. Het landschap was adembenemend en er waren volop mogelijkheden om memorabele foto's te maken. Het comfortabele luxe busje maakte de reis ontspannend en aangenaam, waardoor we achterover konden leunen en onderweg van het prachtige landschap konden genieten.

Over het geheel genomen een zeer mooie ervaring! Ik vond zowel de Waitomo Caves tour als de Hobbiton Movie set tour geweldig. Alle gidsen waren zeer duidelijk en professioneel in hun uitleg, met een vleugje humor. Rachel, de buschauffeur en hoofdgids, was ook erg geruststellend, verantwoordelijk en duidelijk in haar instructies. Onderweg zagen we veel mooie schapen en koeien die vrij rondliepen. Zeer waardevol voor het geld. De touringcar was ook comfortabel!

Het was een magische Hobbiton Movie Set en de Glow Worm Caves. Geweldige dagtour! Geweldige lunch ook. Een pluim voor onze gids Richard, ook al was hij nieuw, hij deed zijn best om het onvergetelijk voor ons te maken. Een echte aanrader, deze tour met Cheeky Kiwi Tours.

This is a review from someone who has never watched The Lord of the Rings. Overall, the tour was efficient, enjoyable, and very smooth from start to finish. The bus stop near the Sky Tower was easy to find, and the staff kindly helped me when I asked. I had accidentally booked a one-way ticket, but they informed me in advance so I could change it to a round trip — something to keep in mind! Our driver, Todd, was funny, engaging, and very kind. At the Waitomo Caves, the guide explains everything as you walk through. The main highlight, the boat ride, is a no-photo area, but you can purchase a composite photo afterward. The Hobbiton tour lasts about two hours, with plenty of time to take photos without rushing. Even without knowing the movie, I still enjoyed the beautiful, storybook-like scenery. My husband, who is a fan, said it was the highlight of our New Zealand trip. It was a full and very satisfying day — definitely worth the price!

Amazing and such an unique experience! Our guide Simon is knowledgeable in introducing not only the worm cave but also the history and fun fact of New Zealand.

De twee belangrijkste attracties, de Glowworm Caves en de Geothermal Valley, waren beide beter dan de verschillende Australische attracties die ik vorig jaar heb bezocht. Ze zijn van hogere kwaliteit en hebben een uniek karakter. Chauffeur Mike is zeer proactief en heeft een diepgaande kennis van de Maori-stam. Naast het rijden leidde hij ook het werk van de gids en reisleider. Onderweg vertelde hij in detail over de geschiedenis van de Maori, waardoor de lange reis van enkele uren niet saai werd. Hoewel er wifi aan boord is, kreeg ik pas de kans om de chauffeur naar het wachtwoord te vragen nadat we stopten voor een korte pauze. Het zou beter zijn als de chauffeur het wachtwoord proactief aan iedereen zou doorgeven voor vertrek.

Het was een geweldige dag. Hobbiton was grillig en gedetailleerd met een heerlijke lunch, de Waitomo grotten waren prachtig, en de rit van Waitomo terug naar Rotorua was op zich al een belevenis met adembenemende uitzichten.

Our tour guide, Adil, was very professional and friendly. He shared New Zealand's history, animals, food, and some interesting stories. He also gave us very helpful advice at each attraction, which was truly wonderful! Hobbiton was my favorite part of the North Island tour; even if you haven't seen the movies, you definitely won't regret coming here. It's absolutely beautiful.

Due to insufficient participants for the Kiwi House tour, it was changed to a caves-only visit. The driver was very friendly and attentive to the elderly, and also offered travel advice for those visiting other parts of New Zealand. This tour visits two caves. In the first cave, we took a small boat, and the number of glowworms was incredibly abundant and spectacular. The guide's photography skills were excellent, capturing great photos even in the dark cave. The second cave had fewer glowworms and focused mainly on viewing stalactites.
