Great Great located hotel close to Paddington station room nice and clean with a continental style breakfast available, would recommend taking earplugs of you area light sleeper as property is over a tube line, great value accommodation

Good Great points: location which is closed to Paddington station with access to overland a various tube lines. Fridge in room. Tea/coffee making facilities- great.
Negative points: a bed so narrow that I feared falling from it when I rolled over. No lift, so taking a 20kg suitcase up 50 stairs was not great. The room was a furnace-london is having a super hot summer, but a proper fan or investment in an air con would be fab. I didn't choose the Hilton, but the bed and lack of an air con could be addressed. As mentioned, the good points were much appreciated though

Good The Dolphin Hotel was a quaint hotel room typical of other English accomodations I've had. There is no air conditioning, but there was a fan and the doors to the balcony opened to let in a breeze. Since it's on a dead end, there wasn't much traffic noise.
The reason for the low score was due to the one staff member who checked us in and was very unhelpful. She was probably the most rude person we encounted on our six day trip to England. The person at the desk in the morning was more friendly, but not enough to make up for the poor experience we had the night before. I feel it's important to give context as I don't usually complain. We are not demanding and we comply with whatever requests are made. It is easy to assume we are rude travellers who complain when every whim isn't met, but that is not the case. I believe basic courtesy is a requirement at the front desk.

Good Room was clean, a decent size with a nice mini fridge. The shower door was broken though and the bathroom was insanely tiny with no counter space or a spot in the shower for shampoo and what not. Breakfast was very minimal. Eggs, toast, and lunchmeat mostly and the breakfast room is really tiny and they yelled at us when we tried to take the food back to our room when there were no empty tables to sit at. Very old property that needs a renovation bad. No lift/aircon. Location was good though.

Below average The receptionist at check in was very rude and unwelcoming. She could not be bothered to speak with us. We were on the 4th floor and there was no air conditioning, very uncomfortable! Also, as an American I needed help with the coins and the vending machine. She seemed as though I was bothering her by asking a question and if I weren't so desperate for water, since I was dying of heat, I would not have spoken to her at all. I was shocked at her condescending, rude behavior. I won't be staying here or recommending this hotel.

We had a fantastic time staying at the Dolphin. Pedro was such good fun and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms basic but clean.

One of the cheaper hotels near Paddington station. It's a bit run down but good value for money given the location

Clean room, comfy beds and a quiet, convenient location.
Our main issue was the room temperature. It was a hot night and the one fan between the three of us barely touched it.
We had a lot of steps to get up to the bedroom (2nd or 3rd floor). Not an issue for us as we are all fit, but would not be ideal for some people.

This is a beautiful old hotel with a great location and staff. Awesome breakfast included. Tight stairs and small rooms. Remember-no AC!

GoodStayed with family
Good location. Central London and all amenities, restaurants and public transport were within walking distance..
However we went during a heat wave and without air conditioning, it was really hot and humid. We stayed in the basement room, and it was stuffy in there. No soap or shampoo was provided . Not even bottled drinking water , which should be standard given the price paid.
