Stayed with kids

I needed a place to stay with my teenage son for an event in the city. I booked at 4:00pm and arrived at 5:15pm, was given an after hours check in email, and a lockbox code for my key. The key was not in the lock box. I then called after hours staff, and the lady said there should be someone available at 6:00pm. There was a strong cannabis smell in the foyer. Outside the entrance door was an aggressive beggar, and also a rock musician with a sign saying “need money for weed” We went away for an hour and returned with police in the foyer having an aggressive male under arrest. Rubbish went everywhere from the offenders belongings. After waiting 15 minutes for them to clear the foyer, a dodgy man approached me asking my name and I gave it, which fortunately he had my envelope. He wasn’t even a staff member, he was a helper for the woman on the phone. This is because I asked him a few questions about the property and he didn’t know anything about it. He also looked at the rubbish and walked away. My son was becoming anxious by the minute. The elevator, was the most unsafe I’ve seen. Parts falling off it and wires jingling around. We get to the room. Old dusty furniture strewn across the hallway. Thick dust everywhere! The room was seriously dilapidated, and hadn’t been cleaned properly. The only positive was the linen was changed. Rotten old curtains. Thick dust. Broken bed. Yuck. Decided to drive 2 hours home instead. For $20 more you could get a proper place to st

Very basic hotel, needs a thorough clean. But for the price and location it was fine for one night. The knife in a sheath hidden in the bathroom was a nice Melbourne touch!

Other than being in a central part of town, nothing else was good about the hotel. No laundry facilities on sie. Closest laundrette 2 kilometres away. Poorly maintained and untidy. Staff unhelpful

Friendly staff. Dirtiest room I may of ever stayed in. Thick dust that looks like it’s been there for years. Spot mould throughout the bathroom.

I liked the location. Central and close to trams and trains. Easy to enter after hours, too. OK. The room was of "average" cleanliness. Dirt between corners, dusty on smooth surfaces. Not much room to move around in. The bed didn't fit into the wall recess properly, making it awkward to sit up in bed. No table, no cutlery, only a cup, two glasses and a small saucer. Not even a breakfast bowl! Air-con/heater was somewhat old and a bit noisy. Suspected leak in toilet bowl fitting - but the shower was good, and the shampoo and soap were nice, too. Front desk reception was not particularly warm. The only words spoken by the young man behind the counter were, "Checking out?" when I was doing that. A bit noisy outside, but this is to be expected on one of the busiest streets in Melbourne. And I am grateful for having a roof over my head, considering the unfortunate, homeless people virtually right outside the hotel. (Room 529)

It was awful! The thin doona did nothing again a Melbourne winters night. Arguments between staff and guest at midnight right outside your door kicking them out due to "no ID" is scary because how did they even get to the point of having a room without ID? Renovations somewhere the building causing walls to vibrate with hammering and filling at 10pm. Scared to even pull the curtain back in the bathtub as it gave off "hiding a dead junkie" vibes. When you walk in and the 1st thing your kid does is insist on texting her other parent saying she wants to tell them she loves them in case she doesn't make it out alive then that should give you a pretty good impression on what a seedy place this is that likely caters to a pay by the hour type service

I never saw any staff. The motel looked shabby and there was a homeless person sleeping in the corridor in the morning. However, it was a nice big room with a bathtub, and the motel was very conveniently located. For the price, it was all right.
