Doubtful Sound Wilderness Day -päiväretki on henkeäsalpaava pakomatka yhteen Uuden-Seelannin syrjäisimmistä ja koskemattomimmista maisemista. Vaikka maisemat ovat epäilemättä maailmanluokkaa, oppaamme Peanut teki päivästä todella poikkeuksellisen. Heti laivaan noustessamme Peanutin asiantunteva ajotaito ja syvällinen tieto Fiordlandin erämaasta olivat täysin esillä. Jyrkän Wilmot Passin navigointi oli saumatonta, ja hänen selostuksensa tarjosi kiehtovia näkemyksiä alueen ainutlaatuisesta ekologiasta ja historiasta. Kokemuksen erotti kuitenkin hänen tarttuva huumorinsa; hän sai koko ryhmän nauramaan ja pysymään mukana koko pitkän matkan ajan. Villieläinkohtaamiset olivat ehdoton kohokohta. Peanutin tarkan silmän ja ajoituksen ansiosta saimme harvinaisia näkymiä leikkisistä delfiineistä tanssimassa veneen lähellä ja hylkeistä paistattelemassa karuilla kallioilla. Päivä, joka oli täynnä naurua, uskomatonta asiantuntemusta ja ”Hiljaisuuden äänen” hiljaista majesteettisuutta, tekee tästä retkestä ehdottoman pakollisen.

It was a really nice experience and the guide is really friendly, knowledgeable, and humorous :) The bus transportation was on time, we weren’t rushed at every landmark, and we took lots of pictures!

Although we didn't catch the spectacular sight of a thousand waterfalls in full flow, it was still a very worthwhile trip — at least four or five waterfalls are "open for business" year-round. Along the way, we also stopped at several scenic spots, and the bus driver was quite witty and humorous, giving us introductions to the various activities available. Highly recommended.

the registration was smooth, even the boarding and off boarding. Watching the engine room was exciting. Farm tour and the tour guide was very informational. I was excited and enjoyed the most was feeding the animals, removing the sheep's hide, and watching kim (dog) hearding the sheeps. The tea (coffee, juice) and light snack were also sufficient and taste well. Overall the experience was exemplary. Great for solo, couples, and families with kids.

Meillä oli upea aika tällä retkellä! Meillä oli superystävälliset oppaat nimeltä Olivia ja Brian, jotka viihdyttivät meitä ja olivat erittäin asiantuntevia. Kohokohtia olivat valtavan kalojen määrän näkeminen lasipohjan läpi ja ajaminen yhteen luolista! Onnistuimme jopa näkemään delfiinejä lyhyesti, mikä oli loistavaa! Sää kääntyi onneksemme hyväksi, mutta kannattaa tarkistaa kahdesti, jos se ei näytä hyvältä.

We thought the road trip already had amazing reviews but it wasn’t until we went on the cruise we knew there is a much better view on the ocean! There are many different cruise companies and the Pure Milford boat is definitely the better looking boat out of the lot! So we were happy with that. Tip - best seats are at the lower deck and at the front of the boat! Also loved the commentary during the cruise and also get complimentary tea, coffee, hot choco etc. Milford rains about 250 days in a year and we were very lucky to get a sunny day. So definitely bring a warm jacket, sunnies, beanie and maybe a raincoat. Thank you again for the amazing cruise!

Exploring Milford Sound with Southern Discoveries was truly one of the most unforgettable highlights of the trip. The entire experience felt seamless—from the moment we checked in to the breathtaking cruise through the fjord. Their staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the place, sharing stories and facts that made the journey even more meaningful. The vessel was comfortable with plenty of viewing spots, and the panoramic windows made it easy to take in the dramatic cliffs, lush rainforests, and cascading waterfalls. Getting up close to Stirling and Bowen Falls was a surreal moment—you can literally feel the spray of glacial water as the boat gently moves in.
