We went at night and the view was spectacular. We were able to gaze at the skyscrapers and navy pier, enjoy the night scenery of Chicago from high above. The booking was also very convenient snd easy where we just decided to visit at 8pm and managed to book instantly for 9:30pm entry.

I found this to be the better option than other citypasses since it fit the attractions I wanted to go to. Just be sure of the dates you're going on because once you do that the ticket is nonrefundable and unchangeable.

Fantastic 5.0
“An absolutely world-class museum with an incredible collection of art from different periods and cultures. The exhibits were beautifully curated, and the atmosphere was inspiring and relaxing at the same time. Seeing famous masterpieces in person was unforgettable. The staff were helpful, and the museum was clean and well organized. Definitely a must-visit when in Chicago.”

What to know before visiting Chicago

Top experiences to expect through the year

Chicago’s most-booked experiences are its observation decks, followed by attraction passes and museums, with cruises and city tours also popular. Demand builds into a clear peak in June and dips in January, so expect the summer months to be busiest for sights and lakefront activities.

Picks by traveller type: families, couples, solo explorers

Families often gravitate to museums and attraction passes, which package multiple kid-friendly options and make planning easier. Couples tend to favour cruises and observation decks for skyline views and a more relaxed pace. Solo travellers and small groups will find tours and museums easy to slot into flexible itineraries, with tours typically the most budget-friendly way in.

What travellers should book in advance

Book with a moderate lead time: most things can be picked up a day or two out, but the earliest planners typically reserve around 27 days ahead. Booking earlier matters most in the peak period of June, when demand is noticeably higher.

How the main categories compare on price and who they suit

Tours are the easiest, entry-level option and generally the cheapest way to sample the city, suited to budget-conscious travellers and those wanting a guided intro. Museums sit around the mid-range and appeal to culture seekers and families. Observation decks and cruises trend higher in price, offering premium views and scenic experiences for couples and sightseers. Attraction passes are the priciest on average and show the widest range of options, making them the best fit for travellers who want flexibility and a bundle of attractions at varying price points.
