GoodStayed with friends · For friends and family
My stay at the Marco Polo Beijing Parkside Hotel was disappointing overall. By far the most annoying issue with the hotel was its awful Wi-Fi connection. My devices were extremely slow and constantly freezing while running on the Marco Polo Hotel Wi-Fi. I feel like a hotel with such high reviews should come with reliable Wi-Fi and it felt like you could get better connection in almost any other part of Beijing. Furthermore, the fridge provided in the room is barely chilled and couldn't reliably chill foods and drinks. Also, the room occasionally smelled of cigarette smoke. I don't know if it came from the AC or somewhere else, but it was extremely unpleasant during my stay.
That being said there are a couple of positive things that the hotel has to offer. The lobby and elevators are both very impressive and new (which is strange considering the fact that the rooms feel quite old and basic). Additionally, the staff were extremely kind and offered some help. The room was quite clean and there were janitors and housekeeping every day.
Even though the hotel had some good things to offer, I feel like the cons heavily outweighed the pros and I would recommend staying at another hotel until they fix some of the major issues, most notably the Wi-Fi.

Good The staff barely spoke English and you wouldn’t expect that from a 4-5 star hotel even in China and most importantly, there was no vegetarian option in food menu!

Great Clean room, nice staff, breakfast is good, gym is nice but pool is small for a swimmer, more for kids to play.

GoodFor business
On a 27C day in March, there was no air con – the hotel was just ventilating 26C air. In the end it was possible to open the window at night, but still too hot. The next day one was cooler and an open window did the trick. In a room facing away from the main road the noise was bearable. Otherwise the hotel is friendly and accommodating, within a 5 minute walk from a metro stop and within walking distance to many good restaurants.
