Fantastic 5.0
It was an easy and fulfilling day! ✨ The itinerary was well-planned, and every attraction had restrooms, making it suitable for children and seniors ☺️. Besides the beautiful scenery, there were many restaurant choices 🤤. Our tour guide, Xiao Guo, explained the unique features of each attraction and took photos for us at the sites, giving us a wonderful experience! I highly recommend this one-day tour! ✨✨✨

Great 4.0
Small group tour, flexible arrangement. Driver contact one day in advance to confirm pick up time and location! They were even nice enough to pick us up from hotel which was 10 mins walk away from gathering point.

Fantastic 5.0
The itinerary for the Nagoya Full-Day Ise Grand Shrine & Toba Aquarium Tour with Meoto Iwa was well-organized and enjoyable. Unfortunately, it rained quite heavily during our trip, so we decided to head back earlier than scheduled. I originally planned to visit the Pearl Museum, but due to the unpredictable weather, I chose the aquarium instead. Despite the change in plans, I had a great time watching the playful sea creatures and marine shows at the aquarium. Overall, it was still a memorable experience, and I would recommend this tour, especially for those who enjoy nature, culture, and marine life.

Great 4.0
A few days later, we met tour guide Xiao Yu again. She was just as meticulous in her explanations and took great care of everyone. Although Ise isn't particularly popular with foreigners right now, if you like Japanese shrines and are interested in Japanese religious customs, the Ise Grand Shrine tour would be an excellent choice. We were also very lucky this time to witness the Meoto Iwa rope-changing ceremony, which only happens three times a year. It was a very cool experience.

Fantastic 5.0
Santos made our tour an unforgettable experience. From the very beginning, he was friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. He shared fascinating insights about the area, answered all our questions, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and included throughout the day. His enthusiasm and attention to detail really stood out. The tour was well-organised, relaxed, and full of memorable moments, thanks in large part to Santos’s warm personality and expertise. He went above and beyond to make the experience special. And to top it off. He got every group a gift of matcha cookies that he didn’t have to do! such an amazing gesture.

Fantastic 5.0
After seeing this new itinerary on the platform, I immediately gathered my friends and we set off! Our tour guide, Xiao Xie, provided thoughtful and meticulous service. When a sudden downpour caught us off guard at noon, we immediately received a message from Xiao Xie saying he was getting umbrellas from the car for us! He was truly considerate. He also looked after us carefully throughout the trip. Highly recommended!

If you enjoy taking photos, you might want to choose just one location, otherwise you'll feel rushed. Alternatively, I'd suggest staying overnight. Our driver was excellent; she drove very smoothly and was extremely polite. A six-hour round trip (three hours each way) must have been tiring for her. I highly recommend visiting Shirakawa-go in both summer and winter; it's truly beautiful.

What to know before visiting Ise

Top experiences to try in Ise

Ise’s visitor bookings are dominated by guided tours, followed by visits to zoos and aquariums, and demand rises and falls through the year — building from spring and peaking around May before dipping in mid-summer. That rhythm makes tours the headline draw for much of the year, with animal attractions filling quieter pockets.

Best activities by traveller type

Families will find zoos and aquariums an easy win, offering low-cost, child-friendly experiences that suit varied ages. Couples often opt for the array of guided tours, which cover local history and culture and come in mid-range to premium options. Solo travellers and small groups can also join tours for an efficient way to see highlights and meet others, while zoos and aquariums are a straightforward, budget-friendly solo option.

What travellers from the United States should book ahead

Most visitors to Ise keep plans flexible — many things can be picked up a day or two before — but typical bookers lock activities in about 10 days ahead, and the most organised buy roughly four weeks in advance. Booking ahead matters most in the peak period around May, when demand is noticeably higher.

How the main categories compare on price and fit

Zoos and aquariums are the easiest, lowest-cost way into Ise’s attractions and sit at the entry-level of the price scale. Tours are the priciest median option and also offer the widest spread of prices, so they can suit budget-minded travellers seeking basic guided options as well as those after more premium, in-depth experiences. Overall, zoos and aquariums are best for inexpensive family outings, while tours cover a broader range of interests and budgets.
