This was my first time seeing it, a very special performance with powerful dancing and ethnic music, creating a unique Spanish atmosphere. Highly recommended! (I overheard a foreigner next to me say it was only 27 euros on the GetYourGuide app.)

Using the Art Pass is very simple; you just need to exchange your voucher at the counter. The price is also reasonable, and with it, you can enter the Thyssen Museum directly with your voucher.

The last stop of my 44-day trip was Madrid, before heading to Incheon. Since I only had one day, I signed up for a night tour. The guide calmly explained the important sights in Madrid and took beautiful photos for us, so the hour and a half in the afternoon flew by quickly.

Nice and intimate setting—we’re very close to the stage, so the experience feels personal and immersive. The flamenco was absolutely amazing.

This was a ticket that included one drink and front-row access. Since seating is not assigned, good seats are first-come, first-served. We recommend arriving and lining up about 40 minutes before the show starts. The 1-hour show offers an amazing experience.

After purchasing, you can enter directly with the QR code, which is very convenient. The performance was wonderful, with live guitar and singing. We were arranged in front-row seats 👍🏻

For the Thyssen Museum, you can simply present the QR code. For the Reina Sofía Museum, you need to show the entire voucher to receive your admission ticket. At the Prado Museum, there's usually a long line, but you can go directly to the ticket office, show your voucher to a staff member there, and they will direct you to the office to get your admission ticket.

Carmen Thyssen Collection

Explore the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection, located on the ground floor of the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid. This remarkable section of the permanent collection spans the 17th to the 20th century, showcasing key movements in Western art.

The collection includes works from the Baroque period to experimental avant-garde movements and features renowned artists like Canaletto and Kandinsky. It significantly enhances the legacy of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, one of Spain’s top museums and a leading institution in Europe.

Cultural and Historical Significance of Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum

The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, located in the restored Villahermosa Palace redesigned by Rafael Moneo, is a cultural jewel among Madrid’s museums. Its prime location next to the Prado and Reina Sofía completes the city’s famed "Golden Triangle of Art," making it an essential stop for art lovers.

What makes it stand out is how it fills historical and stylistic gaps left by the neighboring institutions. While the Prado focuses on classical Spanish and European masters, and the Reina Sofía on modern Spanish art, the Thyssen bridges them by offering a broader chronological sweep and more diverse geographical coverage.

Its permanent collection showcases the evolution of European painting. You can trace the arc from 13th-century Italian Gothic works to 20th-century avant-garde pieces. The variety includes Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Romanticism, Impressionism, and Expressionism.

The museum’s foundation stems from the private collection of Baron Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza, later expanded by his family. This collection features key pictorial schools and major art movements, reinforcing its importance among Europe’s leading art museums. It also reflects the personal tastes and vision of the Thyssen-Bornemisza family, whose legacy continues to shape the institution.

Christmas at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum

Known for its warm holiday atmosphere, the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum transforms into one of Madrid’s most enchanting seasonal destinations.

You can enjoy special Christmas exhibitions, including a beautifully detailed 18th-century Neapolitan Nativity scene. Family-friendly concerts and educational events also invite guests to explore the connection between Western art and holiday traditions.

Whether you're an art enthusiast or simply looking to celebrate the season in style, it’s a must-visit for holiday travelers in Madrid.

The Madrid Region through the Eyes of Artists

The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum offers a compelling look at how artists have captured the spirit of the Madrid region. You can explore interpretations of local landscapes, traditions, and daily life across centuries through selected works in the permanent collection. These artistic perspectives reveal the region’s evolving identity and its influence on European art.

Thematic tours can give you a more enriching experience, linking artworks to regional themes such as food, fashion, and nature. This approach bridges historical masterpieces with the living culture of Madrid, making the museum a meaningful stop for art lovers and cultural explorers alike.

Architectural Beauty of Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum

The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, one of Madrid’s premier art institutions, is housed in the elegant 18th-century Palace of Villahermosa—an architectural landmark reimagined by Rafael Moneo. His renovation in the early 1990s preserved the neoclassical façade while introducing minimalist interiors that complement the artwork without distraction.

This blend of historic grandeur and contemporary design creates a serene, contemplative space for viewing art. Natural light filters through skylights and carefully designed galleries, guiding you through a collection that spans the Renaissance to 20th-century avant-garde movements.

Now part of Spain’s state-owned collections, the museum not only secures the legacy of the Thyssen-Bornemisza family but also stands as a modern symbol of the nation’s cultural identity.
