    Requirements for Travel to Hawaii

Information in this article is correct at the time of publication. Note that Hawaii travel restrictions may change due to the ongoing pandemic. Make sure to check local government websites for updates before you travel.
Aloha! Great news for domestic travelers who have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in the United States: you can now skip pre-travel testing and quarantine upon arrival in Hawaii due to the State of Hawaii Safe Travels Hawaii Program.
Planning to visit or go back to the Aloha State anytime soon? Here are more of the latest updates on Hawaii’s travel requirements and guidelines that you should know.

    Who can go?

Domestic travelers who are not fully vaccinated and visitors coming from Canada, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, Tahiti, and Taiwan, are allowed entry as long as they present a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours before their departure.
Following CDC guidelines, if you have been in Brazil, China, the European Schengen Area, Iran, India, Ireland, South Africa, and the United Kingdom in the past two weeks, entry to Hawaii will be denied.
Visitors arriving from beyond these places must still comply with the required 10-day quarantine.

    Hawaii pre-travel requirements

You’re probably excited to board that plane, but you must first register with the Safe Travels Hawaii Program if you’re an adult aged 18 years and older. Don’t forget to complete the Travel and Health form within 24 hours of departure. If traveling with kids, add your children under your account.
Fully vaccinated individuals have to upload their CDC-issued vaccination card to the Safe Travels Program website and have their card with them when they arrive in the state.
If you’re not a fully vaccinated domestic traveler aged five years and above, you still have to present a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours before departure to bypass the mandatory 10-day quarantine. Take note that the State of Hawaii only accepts tests from trusted testing and travel partners.

    While in Hawaii

Upon touchdown at the airport, expect to be directed through the screening process immediately. After passing and you’re not subject to quarantine, you can now start traveling between islands.
Just take note that there are also travel restrictions within Hawaii. Here are what you should remember:
    1. Face masks or coverings are no longer required to be worn outdoors. However, they must strictly be worn when inside establishments.
    2. Face shields are not substitutes for face coverings.
    3. Up to 10 people indoors and 25 for outdoor events are allowed for social gatherings.
    4. Indoor capacity for bars, restaurants, and other social establishments is set at 50%. Select state parks and beaches are open with some restrictions.
These travel restrictions will remain in place until October 18 unless a new order is issued.
