Came here last night to watch this awesome show. This venue is located about 45mins from Hanoi CBD and sure is worth the trip. The event was spectacular, there was great lighting and the performers were amazing. Highly recommend everyone to check out this place.
We took a grab there, it was raining, from our hotel in old quarters to The Quintessence of Tonkin Show, we spent 587,600vn and back to hotel was 280,800vn. Around 1.5hr during peak hour and 45 mins non-peak. Highly recommend you to include transport in your purchase of ticket. While the ride was long and expensive, the 1hr show that involved 250 performers (both local farmers and students) was amazing. Knowing that the show is to help supplement the farmers’ income in a sustainable way is meaningful. It’s outdoor for most categories so bring your poncho incase it rains. Mainly in Vietnamese language so we hardly understand but you can always use ai to find out the story plot first before watching.
This is difenitely a MUST in your itinerary. We really enjoyed it. The light effects and the performance was amazing! We were in awe the whole time we were watching. They have a lot of performers. We arrived an Hour before the show starts so we waited at their Canteen, while waiting there were a lot of entertainment too. You can play games with the performers and dance with them. There are also some who sang, danced and Act. Tip: Arrive at the pick-up point 30mins before because the first bus gets full easily. Buy the GOLD ticket cause it got the best view. Be sure to line up first so you can choose your seat. Seat at the center and Top so you can appreciate the whole performance. We were lucky that there were a lot of vacant seats since it was off season so we got to transfer to nearest seats whenever we need to take photos. Overall, it was worth it!!!! We’re glad we included it in our tour. It’s best to book klook cause the venue is far from the city so you need a bus going back and forth.
Recommended by my Vietnamese friend to watch. Blew my mind how it was being done and it was so good that I don’t know which is the best words to describe. It brings out the culture of Vietnam and I am proud of the work they did. Those who want to travel there to watch, I recommend to get their 2 ways round trip bus as this area is out of the city area. My friend and I we made a mistake where we booked the ticket and go there by grab. We have a problem when going back because when we are looking for help seem like not many people able to speak English and we managed to booked grab where we select their local taxi service. Hope this is a small reminder tip. This show is a must to watch when you are in Hanoi. It is really good!!!!!!!
It's recommended to book a ticket with 2-way transport because the venue is far from the Hanoi city center. There was no restaurant nearby the venue. The show is open-door and it was slightly raining. The raincoat was provided. The show was 1 hour long.
When it comes to shows in Hanoi, The Quintessence of Tonkin is a must-see. It's performed at a large outdoor theater on the water, a bit outside central Hanoi, with open-air seating for the audience. I think the price of just under 4,000 yen for a one-hour performance, including round-trip transportation from Hanoi city center, is quite reasonable. The show features boats floating by, performances on the water, giant structures emerging from the water, and even real elephants and cows. You can also dine and drink before the show, and there's even a singing performance at the dining venue. While Ho Chi Minh City's AO Show is excellent, this show in Hanoi is definitely worth seeing too!
A magical experience from beginning to the end. While English translation was only provided at the start of the performance and at the end, the dancing in itself you didn't need any translation as the stories was told clearly through the visuals and dancing.
Set outdoors against the backdrop of a mountain and a huge lake (yes, the stage is literally on water), this performance blends traditional Vietnamese culture, history, and religion into one seamless, jaw dropping spectacle. We’re talking water puppetry, folk singing, orchestras, stunning light work, and dancers moving in complete sync, almost like watching painting come to life
The performance is very exciting, the venue design, sound, light and visual effects are perfectly matched! The meeting point for the shuttle bus is far away from the main tourist areas in Hanoi. It takes about 30 minutes to drive from the old city to the meeting point. Those who need the shuttle bus should pay attention to the transportation time. The pick-up meeting time (16:30) was a little too early. The weather in the park was sultry in summer. In order to watch the one-hour performance, everyone crowded in the square and waited for more than 2 hours. It is recommended that the meeting time should be postponed by one hour, and it would be more appropriate to set off at 18:00.
Watched the Quintessence of Tonkin Show in Hanoi and it was absolutely worth it. The venue is about 30 minutes from the city center, so it’s best to book your ticket with transportation included, the show ends late and getting a Grab afterward can be challenging. The performance itself was beautiful: very traditional, thoughtfully curated, and a stunning fusion of history and modern technology. It really feels like one for the books. There’s also a free dinner, so make sure to arrive early to allow time for communication and settling in (a bit tricky, hehe, but manageable). Overall, a must-see experience in Hanoi.
