Tokyo Real Sumo Morning Practice with Expert Reporter

Such an interesting experience and not some kind of fake touristy show. Actually got to see sumo players train and fight against each other in one of the largest stable. Also the guide used to be a sumo newspaper journalist and has a lot of knowledge and passion for sumo, love all the stories he shared about sumo and his experience.

This is definitely my best experience in Japan during 3 weeks. It worths every penny that I spend! Every sumo guys are so much attractive by their way of practicing during that morning. Setsu is definitely the star of the morning, with all of his passion and patience in happy mood, he guided us from this surprising to other surprising. I highly recommend this tour to all of my friends and also to people who are interested in this tour. Just go ahead without hesitate, you are gonna understand my current feeling. Cheers!

Brilliant! The tour offered a really unique opportunity to watch professional sumo wrestlers during their morning practice. When I started to search for a sumo tour I had naively expected to have many options to watch actual sumo wrestlers in Tokyo, but found that almost all the options are actually shows put on for tourists which are not real sumo wrestlers so I was very pleased to find this tour. Now just a week later, we are watching the Grand Sumo tournament on the television cheering for the sumo wrestlers of Takasago stable - the same sumo wrestlers we were watching in person! If you want an authentic experience, this tour is perfect!

These guys are the real deal—intense, powerful, and surprisingly agile, with real action (we saw bloody noses and possibly a broken tooth). The guides are professional, welcoming, and eager to share their expert insights and stories before and after the tour. I’ll be talking about this one for a long time! It’s an early start and I found the seating uncomfortable, but maybe that’s just me. 5-star experience and the highlight of our 5-day trip to Tokyo. Higly recommend.

If you like or are curious about the world of sumo, this tour is wonderful. It reflects a spiritual and sporting side of Japan that I deeply admire, and the guides were charming, sharing curious and very interesting facts. Not only during the visit to the sumo stable, but also in the following tour, the visit to the museum, the Ryogoku neighborhood in Tokyo itself, and so on. It was a wonderful activity that goes beyond typical tourist spots and allows you to appreciate the incredible dedication of these professional wrestlers. Thank you!

A unique experience! We had the opportunity to watch a real Sumo training session, followed by explanations about their daily lives given by our guide; it was fascinating. We were then lucky enough to attend an official Sumo tournament, which made the experience even more unique. A big thank you!

There was no performing or entertaining for visitors, just a respectful glimpse into the wrestler’s daily routines. The atmosphere at the sumo stable was authentic. Communication prior to our visit was good and our guides were knowledgeable and friendly, explaining the traditions and training with care. The wrestlers themselves were impressive, so strong, agile, and focused. This experience is perfect for anyone visiting Tokyo who wants a unique cultural adventure beyond the usual tourist spots. My 20 year old son and me went to this event. We did not know what to expect but it surpassed any expectations we had. The endless hard work that these Sumo Wrestlers put in 6 days a week for years in incredibly difficult. The history and facts that are shared with us on the tour after the training ends was a bonus we weren’t expecting. We learned so much about why someone chooses to become a Sumo Wrestler and what rules apply to the wrestler if they choose to take this career path. It’s discipline on another level. our tour guide was absolutely amazing and so knowledgeable.

Absolutely fantastic experience. Soness and Shinya are very knowledgeable about sumo and answered any and every question about the world of sumo. This is a unique cultural experience where you can see real sumo wrestlers training, not a fake show for tourists. You can also have your photo taken with the wrestlers. Despite the typhoon bearing down on us, it was an enlightening and educational morning with Shinya's deep knowledge of sumo and Japanese history. We learned about life in a sumo stable, sumo rankings and sponsorship, and that smaller sumo wrestlers can beat bigger ones with technique and focus. This is truly a unique experience to have in Japan, as the "behind-the-scenes" is not usually open to the public. Highly recommend.
