Reviews
I liked that we were a small group of 7 in the tour and pacing was just about right. Travel time from Sydney to Port Stephens is 3-4hrs. Be prepared to to spend most of your time on the road. The driver/guide was good. and we also had a Japanese guide. Water and lunch are already included. Overall, was fun experience
There were plenty of dolphins to see, but it depended on our luck that day, as the cruise staff mentioned. We had fun with all the activities provided, and the guide was super friendly and fluent in both English and Chinese. However, they changed the schedule to visit the koala sanctuary instead of the winery, but it was still enjoyable and great to see the koalas there.
Used the Australia Pass for 2 activities and saved 30% compared to buying them separately. Easy to use. The itinerary was great, saw adorable koalas at the Koala Sanctuary, which included fish and chips for lunch, and saw dolphins on the cruise, very satisfying. Anna Bay's scenery is stunning, and the sandboarding was thrilling and fun. Highly recommend!
We opted for the All-inclusive Day Trip and went for the tour in May 2023. We received an email and sms on the pickup details the day before our tour. The tour started off early at around 7am, and was conducted in dual language (English/Chinese) due to the diversity of the tour members. Our first stop was to Murray's Brewery, where we tried 3 types of wine. Then we went for 4WD and sandboarding at Stockton Beach, followed by Lunch, and finally the Dolphin Cruise at Nelson Bay (around 1.5hrs). The journey back to Sydney was almost 3hrs, and we finally reached around 6 plus. We had fun trying the sandboarding, which can look a bit intimidating, and were really happy to see the dolphins! We do felt that the tour was a little too fast paced. The time allocated at each stop, especially at Murray's Brewery which we were only given 20mins, could be longer. Although the guide and driver did explain the need for the rush (to avoid crowd and to be punctual for the cruise), it does take out a bit of the enjoyment and affect our experience a little.
1. The driver and tour guide Alan explained the itinerary very carefully. Because all the people on the bus that day were Asians (Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, China), Alan spoke very slowly and in a low voice, but he was not suitable for people who are not good at English. , coupled with the Australian accent, I still have a little understanding of it, resulting in missing a lot of interesting new knowledge. 2. Take the shuttle bus from the long-distance bus parking lot of the Central Station at 6:45 in the morning (it is recommended to find the location early, because the other party said that you cannot stop and wait for a long time). The itinerary includes rest stops and dolphin watching (dolphins are better than gold) It is easier to see whales in the sea, and the dolphins swim directly beside the boat), lunch (at the fishing port restaurant, pay for yourself), sandboarding (the height is not high, but it is a sufficient experience, you will transfer to a desert four-wheel drive for the round trip), winery tasting Drinks, and we will drop everyone off at Pitt Street, where Asian food is gathered, around 6 or 7 pm on the return trip. 3. The price of this product package is the final price, and no other fees will be paid on the day of the trip. Unlike some similar itineraries, based on feedback from other travelers, there are situations where additional tour guide fees are charged in cash.
I used the Australia Pass to participate in two activities, which was 30% cheaper than buying them separately. It's very convenient to use. The itinerary is rich; I saw adorable koalas at the Koala Sanctuary, enjoyed a fish and chips lunch, and saw dolphins on the boat tour, which was very satisfying. Anna Bay has stunning scenery, and sandboarding was thrilling and fun. Highly recommended!"
Saw a small pod of dolphins and tried sandboarding - so objectives were met. Alan was a friendly and helpful guide, giving us ample time to at each venue for the full experience. Fortunate to have a small group (8 pax in total) and cooperative members so there was no delay and it was an enjoyable day trip :)
We had an amazing day with Gordon and Tom of Brighton Tours! I highly recommend to take this tour: Day Tour to Port Stephens (Dolphin Watching, Visit Koala Sanctuary and Sand Boarding) and avail their services. Gordon and Tom were easy to approach with, attended to our inquiries, great time management, knowlegeable about Australia and shared fun facts about our activities/destination. Plus, we arrived safely. a. Dolphin watching and lunch at Moonshadow - We got to see them gracefully swimming around. Then, I'm satisfied with the fish and chips with Salad on the side. b. Visit the Koala Sanctuary - We got to see those Koalas rescued and can't go back to the wild due to their current state (Blinky, Ms Sunset, Tilly to name a few). Got to see a Tawney Frogmouth and bees. c. Sand Boarding and Sand Dunes - We transferred to a 4WD and hit the sand. It's our 1st time sand boarding. Plus, we made a quick detour to the beach for a photo.
The itinerary was quite rich. Seeing the adorable koalas at the Koala Sanctuary, enjoying the beautiful scenery on the Moin Shadow boat tour, the included fish and chips lunch, and seeing dolphins on the boat made it a very satisfying experience. Anna Bay has super beautiful scenery and the sandboarding was thrilling and fun. An unforgettable experience!
saw the dolphins swimming very near to our boat! good experience! the kids fish and chips lunch served on board actually tastes much better than the adults one. visit to koala sanctuary that houses injured koalas was great. saw them at close distance. samdboarding was an interesting experience for us first timers but it actually gets really tiring after the third round haha..
