Reviews summaryWe had a great experience with the Shirakawa and Hida Takayama One-Day Tour from Nagoya. It was well worth the price, offering a smooth and well-organized journey for families or first-timers. The meet-up point at Meitetsu Bus Center was easy to locate and very accessible, making the start of the trip hassle-free. Our guide was fluent in English and communicated clearly, ensuring we knew the schedule at every stop. She announced the meet-up times in advance and reminded us again before we explored on our own, which made the trip stress-free. The driver was steady and careful, ensuring a safe ride despite the rainy and snowy conditions. We also appreciated the thoughtful details—each guest received a physical map with recommendations on where to try local delicacies, plus an initial tour of key landmarks, making it easier to navigate the area. Overall, this tour was well-planned and efficient, making it a hassle-free way to experience Shirakawa-go and Takayama in a day. Highly recommended!
Convenient and great experience. Perfect tour for traveling with family especially with elderly members so there is no need to worry about transportation. When at Shirakawago, remember to head to the observatory deck shuttle bus stop early if you wish to visit the observatory deck, they cut off the line when daily limit is reached.
We had an amazing one-day trip to Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go! From exploring Takayama’s charming morning markets to admiring the postcard-perfect gassho-zukuri houses in Shirakawa-go, every moment was memorable. 🛍️🏡🌾 The scenery was stunning, the food — especially the Hida beef — was delicious, and the cultural experience was rich and peaceful. 🍜🥩🌿 Huge thanks to our guide Mickey for making the day even more special. Highly recommended! 🇯🇵
Going to Takayama and Shirakawago was amazing. It felt like my winterwonderland dream came to life. Though we had delays due to a sudden accident in the same route, we were able to arrive on both locations and enjoyed the view. The food served was very filling and tasty. Would definitely like to go again in these places.
Mickey is our guide. He shared with us the history of places we went. He is very patient and responsible, ensuring that all are back to the coach before leaving. He also toldbus the direction to head to the viewing point at the peak to get the best view of the lovely pitched roof houses. There were snow everywhere though it was end much. The sceneries were lovely
Our tour of Shirakawa-go and Takayama was an unforgettable experience, thanks to our incredibly knowledgeable and engaging tour guide Yuki. From the moment we started, she provided fascinating insights into the history, culture, and traditions of the region as well as recommendation of what to eat.
The travel time was just right. I didn't feel rushed. The host company is Meitetsu, so we are confident in the arrangement. The meeting point is also at the Meitetsu Bus Center, so you don't have to look around. The tour guide is Japanese, but he will provide English explanations and necessary information. The mountain cherry blossoms were in full bloom, and the whole family had a great time.
was such a great experience being able to see the Japan countryside. The Funasaka Sake tasting was amazing and worth it! Also I loved the Hida beef !! The only thing I would have changed is less time at Shirakawago, and more time at Takayama. I also recommend you bring a hat and sunscreen as it is very sunny.
the weather is nice the moment we went here. takayama is a nice place, id you want an old vibe of japan in nostalgic historical side. Theres a lot of stall foods to try. but i havent tride the sushi wagyu beef im afraid to have gastro during visit coz my stomach has low tolerence in raw foods. but i did try the pudding, its yummy. Shirakawago villahge is stunning. ypu can go to observatory deck thru minibus. You can go down by walk downhill and explore the other spot and look upclose the gassho village community. 2 hours is not enough for me to maximize the enjoy due to time limit. so maybe next time i will try the DIY at least i have a idea where to go and ive already keep the map in hand.
Yukie san our tour companion and Itoo san our driver were very organized and friendly. Everything went smoothly and schedule was followed. Takayama and Shirakawa Go were so beautiful. I wish we could have stayed for a few days!
